Brilliant Earth – Why Work For Us?

THE FOUNDING STORY
Brilliant Earth was co-founded by Beth Gerstein and Eric Grossberg, who met at Stanford University. When Beth was about to be engaged, she experienced firsthand, with her fiancé Alex, the challenge of finding a conflict free engagement ring that represented her values. Eric, through his research at Stanford, became impassioned with the idea that responsibly-sourced jewelry could be an effective tool for social change in developing countries. Together, Beth and Eric founded Brilliant Earth in 2005.

What began as a partnership between two entrepreneurs has grown into a community of people with a passion for fine jewelry and a commitment to change. The Brilliant Earth team is a group of dedicated individuals – jewelry designers, sales associates, gemologists, and more – all working to provide exceptional jewelry that our customers can feel good about wearing. Our customers, too, are part of our community. It is with our customers' help that we are cultivating a more humane jewelry industry, one stunning piece of jewelry at a time.

OUR MISSION
Our goal at Brilliant Earth is to make jewelry as beautiful as it can be. We are passionate about cultivating a more ethical, transparent, and sustainable jewelry industry.

PROVIDING QUALITY
Brilliant Earth provides jewelry of exceptional quality originating from pure sources and harvested using socially responsible practices.

FOSTERING CHANGE
Brilliant Earth provides education about the social and environmental issues affecting the jewelry industry and identifies ways to help.

PROMOTING GROWTH
Brilliant Earth supports underdeveloped communities ravaged by the jewelry industry by donating a share of our profits.

ETHICAL SOURCING
At Brilliant Earth, we are dedicated to socially and environmentally responsible sourcing. Our carefully selected suppliers follow strict labor and environmental standards and demonstrate a complete chain of custody for their gemstones. To reduce the demand for additional dirty gold mining, we use recycled gold and platinum. These precious metals come from secondary sources and are re-refined, meaning they are of the same high quality as newly mined metals.

 QUALITY
From beautiful packaging to our exclusive jewelry   designs, everything at Brilliant Earth is held to   exceptional standards. Our made to order jewelry is   handcrafted and carefully inspected by our jewelry   experts. At Brilliant Earth, there is no compromise   between quality and conscience.

 SERVICE

At Brilliant Earth, we combine the ease of online   shopping with the personalized service of a fine   jewelry boutique. Our team of jewelry specialists is   dedicated to working with you to create the perfect   piece of jewelry. We believe that jewelry that   reflects your values should also reflect your unique   preferences.

 GIVING BACK
As part of our mission to transform the jewelry   industry, we work in partnership with advocacy   groups to promote awareness about conflict   diamonds, dirty gold, labor and mining issues, and   environmental concerns. We also donate 5% of our   profits to benefit communities harmed by the   jewelry industry.

Need to like working in a very fast placed environment.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Brilliant Earth.

    Interview

I applied on Thursday through planted.com and got an email back the next day requesting a phone interview. She asked basic questions about my resume and background and immediately after the call emailed me to schedule an in person interview. I scheduled the interview for Sunday and it lasted about an hour where I was asked general resume questions and some situational questions about what to do if a customers ring didn’t make in time for an engagement and stuff like that.
The interviewer let me know that the next step was to talk to a higher up manager over her. I received an email the following day requesting a second phone interview with the Showroom Coordinator Manager and I ended up being available the same day and he was too so I got a call from him that lasted 15 minutes where he just asked how comfortable I was with the operational side of the job. Call was very short and to the point!
About 10 minutes after the call I received an email requesting 5 professional references as well as a background check.
    Which I immediately provided.
I waited 3 days for an answer back, later in the day I received an email requesting a phone call with the hr person and gm for the store.
On the call I received a job offer which I accepted and details were given for pay etc. Communication was great throughout the entire interview process. It did seem a little extensive but I believe that’s to be expected with a salaried position.
