Brocade – Why Work For Us?

Brocade's workforce and customers around the world represent unique experiences, perspectives, and abilities that drive our success. Their passion for innovation and our passion for inclusion help us maintain our leadership in the global technology community.

History and Progress

Brocade launched our formal diversity and inclusion initiative in 2011—and we've made great progress.  Through our programs we have:

  • Enhanced recruiting efforts through relationships with organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, the National Center for Women and Information Technology, and the Anita Borg Institute
  • Expanded partnerships with organizations that serve diverse populations and increased participation in and hosting of job fairs for people with disabilities, veterans, Black/African Americans, and women
  • Invested in programs such as Dare 2B DigitalBoys & Girls Club, and City Year that support underserved populations and communities through volunteerism and philanthropy that changes the trajectory of at-risk youth and young girls
  • Increased learning and development opportunities that focus on diversity, inclusion, and bias— as well as formal and informal professional and personal development talks, workshops, mentorships and leader-facilitated sessions—for executives and employees alike
  • Increased communication channels that recognize and celebrate diversity, including employee portals that contain tools and tips, and heritage month celebrations
  • Engaged employees to help educate the company on what it means to be a truly inclusive workforce through such channels as our Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups

Brocade’s Employee Resource Groups are integral to our inclusive environment. They bring together those with common characteristics and interests to provide cultural sharing and understanding—and to work toward Brocade’s success worldwide.

Our current groups:

  • Women In Networking: This flagship diversity program is a learning community of women and men who promote an inclusive work environment where everyone can fully participate in creating business success.
  • Black Employee Network: The network inspires employee success and advancement while it fosters cultural awareness and understanding of the black community and addresses Brocade’s business objectives.
  • Military Advocate Group: This is a support network for current and prospective employees with a military background or interest, who are passionate about strengthening the military-friendly aspect of Brocade’s culture.
  • B-Proud:  This program affirms Brocade’s commitment to equality by promoting a safe and open working environment for all employees, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

To our active and former military and their families, thank you for your sacrifice and service!

Brocade values and respects your contributions—and the contributions you can make as an employee. Whether in sales and marketing or engineering and product development, your leadership and discipline exemplify our company’s core values.

We at Brocade believe that how we act as a company and the way we produce our products are just as important as the innovative technologies we deliver to market. We care about the world in which we live and do business. We invest in our employees and our global communities. And we partner across our supply chain to champion diversity and responsible business practices.

Caring for our planet, our communities, and our supply chain

At Brocade, we believe that being a good global citizen requires a commitment to doing right. That commitment permeates our corporate culture, with an intense focus on respect for the environment, active participation in our global community, conscientious supply chain management, and employee success.

Environmental Responsibility

Through responsible real estate practices and product design efficiencies we are minimizing our impact on the environment: Green Facilities, Green Data Centers, Green Products, Environmental Reporting

Social Responsibility

Our success depends on supporting vibrant, inclusive communities where we work and live. In everything we do, we strive for a positive global impact: Charitable Investments, Volunteerism, Diversity and Inclusion, Government Affairs

Supplier Responsibility

Credibility. Transparency. Value. By putting these principles into play, we’ve earned the trust and respect of our diverse supply chain: Supplier Responsibility, Supplier Diversity, Conflict Minerals, Environmental and Legal Compliance, Transparency (CA SB 657)

From professional development to our team socials and workplace wellness programs, at Brocade, the success of our customers—and our employees—comes first.

Our core values shape our relationships with customers and each other. They guide us in our quest for market leadership, growth, and profitability. We embody them as we strive to challenge the status quo and build the data center of the future.

We believe superior performance ensures profitable growth and lasting success. We value decisiveness and informed risk-taking. We hold ourselves accountable for delivering on our promises.

At Brocade, we are driven to succeed—individually and collectively. High performance is reflected in our drive to set and surpass challenging goals……Our dedication to performance will continue generating excitement in the market, expanding Brocade’s market share, profitability, and growth.”

Differentiated innovation

We enable our customers’ performance and profitability—through a meaningful impact on their businesses. Our unique products and services drive competitive advantage. At Brocade, we anticipate and adapt quickly to change.

“We instill a culture of differentiated innovation by: listening to the customer; solving the customer problem; helping the customer….improving our product quality to customer satisfaction; retaining existing customers.”

We value the contributions of our colleagues and customers. We seek out and engage a diverse community of stakeholders in open and productive dialog. At Brocade, we work hard to enable our employees’ well-being and that of the larger community in which we live and work.

“If you had to place a value on collaboration you probably couldn’t. As a methodology it’s invaluable; it improves how we work together to achieve results. Collaboration is about obtaining an optimal overall solution through exploration, multiple input, ideas, and debate. We need to ensure that as we collaborate, we are open and willing to accept singular compromise for a quality outcome. The opposite of that is compromising the integrity of the solution, so that it becomes mediocre while the singular element is optimized. When we talk about a solution being sub-optimal for a specific function but extremely optimal for Brocade as a whole, that is effective collaboration.”

Core Competencies and Professional Development

Every one of us plays a vital role in our shared success at Brocade. Leadership is called on to create an environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. And you, personally and professionally, will have an unparalleled opportunity to make a contribution and to own your own career path.

Professional Development is also a core competency, and worth particular emphasis. Your business leaders and managers will work closely with you to support your development path in a number of ways:

  • Every employee is required to develop a learning plan of at least 32 hours per year
  • Feedback isn’t a one-time a year event, continuous coaching and open feedback on a regular basis is encouraged
  • From a variety of on-line resources, an ‘open door’ policy, quarterly All-Hands meetings, a robust Intranet platform and ongoing reward and recognition programs, employees have access to tools and resources to inspire them to develop attributes to challenge the Status Quo

Many of these programs are produced by Committees and Councils which all employees are encouraged to join. Events may vary by geography and site, and commonly include:

I have been working at Brocade (More than a year)

Work culture is good, team members are helping. Good learning opportunities. Sometimes work may become monotonous. Flexible timings and work from home options.

No cons as such, depends from team to team. Some teams have internal politics but its not so widespread. Overall it is a good company both for freshers and experienced people.

    Advice to Management

It will be good if they show more concern for their employees. Lot of changes at the top management level every now and then. does not help the work environment

I applied online. I interviewed at Brocade (New York, NY).

This interview went really well yet they seemed a little unprepared for my application and questions. I asked them where they saw the company 5 years from now and they said that since Broadcom is buying Brocade and splitting the company up, they are unsure. There is a lot of uncertainty in this company right now.
