Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

BG truly cares about their employees, you feel valued, challenged, and fairly compensated.

Very niche industry (live event ticketing), that has some shady characters which can be interesting to deal with.

  1. Front End Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Barcelona
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Broker Genius (Barcelona) in Sep 2017

HR phone call / On site general interview / Tech test with an external company

I applied via Glassdoor after seeing the good reviews for the front-end engineer despite they were looking for front-end tech lead as well. So finally I wanted to apply to his last one.

First a small call in english with HR. Typical call with a kind girl.
We talked to go to their office a day for the interview but I didn't received any confirmation nor address. The day and time supposed to be the interview they call me asking me if I'm going. I tell them that I still waiting for the email with the confirmation and directions. They apologise and we book another time for next day at lunch time.

The onsite interview was first with a kind guy introducing me the company. After that with the CTO that was in the Barcelona office but he came from NYC. In the same interview was online (Skype, hangout or whatever) the tech lead of back-end.

Well, was a regular interview in which i had to listen jokes about JS as a language and don't see very interested the guy online about I was telling.

They said me that if they decided to continue with my process they rely on an external consultancy company to do this.

Days after I received an email of HR telling me that they decided not to move forward with my application.

Really happy to know it because the impression was not good in this interview. I felt like "what I'm doing here" with someone that liked that he was interested in something more than interview and other that really didn't like JS and front-end.

Well, you have other options if you don't like the language.

I have had other interviews with people that really care about the process. Maybe, in this cases should be better that someone from HR be in there of coach them...

Functional programming, how I deal with toxic people
