I have been working at BronxWorks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

BronxWorks is an agency that is deeply invested in the Bronx and have various services to address the needs of the community. This is a great agency for entry level staff looking to expand their skills in social services. It provides opportunity for growth and the salary is in line with other non-profit organizations. The agency has good training for new staff and offers a generous package regarding sick, vacation and holiday pay.

    Cons

The agency needs to do more to promote unity, morale and collaboration. The agency need to focus more on staff retention. The agency also should offer some sort of tuition reimbursement and opportunities for professional development. The dental benefits are horrible.

    Advice to Management

Develop strategies to recognize your employees. Administer annual surveys to get feedback from everyone regardless of their position and title.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at BronxWorks (New York, NY).

    Interview

Received a call which lasted approximately 20 minutes. This was followed by an in-person interview which lasted nearly two hours, with a 30-minute writing exercise. I never received a follow-up call or email with the decision for the position, which came off as unprofessional on their part. That being said, the interviewers were pleasant to talk to.
