I worked at Brooklyn Amity School full-time

    Pros

Great students, helpful parents and supportive colleagues. Great for getting your feet wet in your teaching career.

    Cons

However, the administration has almost yearly turnover and is disorganized. Salary not comparable to experience, no health insurance coverage, and few resources available to teachers.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and compensate them with they are worth: financially, professionally, and otherwise. Without these things, you will continue your high turnover rates.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Brooklyn Amity School (Brooklyn, NY) in August 2016.

    Interview

They contacted me within 10 minutes of my applying to the job. I came in for an interview and did a mini-lesson. Neither were a social studies specialist so they had no idea what I was teaching. Was called later that day to be offered the job for $40,000 for my first year teaching and a Master's in Education.
