Buildium – Why Work For Us?

A big part of what we do at Buildium goes beyond our "day jobs." We are very involved in a number of different philanthropic initiatives such as the MS Ride, Cradles to Crayons, Massachusetts Audubon Society, and many more. Each team member is involved in Volunteer Weeks that Buildium runs four times a year. In short, we believe working at Buildium can have more impact that goes beyond our four walls.

Core Value “Animal” Award — a monthly award given to an employee who best demonstrates the core values. It’s actually “Animal” from the Muppets (!).

The Founders Award — an annual award given to an employee who best exemplifies the core values, and represents the best of what it means to be a “Buildian.”

Work shouldn't be boring. No matter what you do or where you do it if you're not having some fun why even bother?

At Buildium we believe fun is an integral part of what makes working here so unique. From our annual Beach Day where we close the office and bus everyone to the beach to our team themed halloween contest, everything we do has some fun sprinkled in.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Buildium (Boston, MA) in November 2013.

I found Buildium through Robert Half in a speed dating type interview. The first interview was informal fit and feel with another Engineer and one of the Co-founders. Following the screening, I was given a programming assignment that I could do at home. The assignment was both challenging and rewarding in that I felt that I could represent my coding style. Finally, I was brought in to meet two engineers to review my assignment and answer some coding questions on a whiteboard. I then spoke with the VP of development and then met with both co-founders again. Buildium was quick with their decision and made the process feel comfortable. At the end I felt that they both knew me as a person as well as my expertise in development without needing to put me through endless interviews or intense programming on the spot.

    Interview Questions

    • The at home assignment was the most difficult as it was fairly open ended. This was both helpful in allowing me to spend as much/as little time as I wanted, but also left me wondering how much detail I should go in to.   Answer Question
