CCP – Why Work For Us?

CCP was founded in the summer of 1997 with the goal of becoming a leading massively multiplayer game company. With the launch of EVE Online in May 2003, CCP has established itself as one of the leading companies in the field, winning numerous awards and receiving critical acclaim worldwide. CCP has a consistent history of integrating hardware and developing software that is on the cutting edge of technology.

CCP is a company dedicated to the development of progressive virtual worlds, and it is founded on the principle of pushing the envelope and breaking new grounds on all levels. CCP is not about making copycat products with compromised quality. CCP is about making dreams become a reality, and we excel at that task because CCP is more than just a workplace. It is a driving force powered by the momentum of hundreds of motivated people.

What is EVE Online?

EVE Online is a massively multiplayer space-based virtual reality. Its design is one that fosters experiences unattainable in any other form of media, where true human interaction and true human emotions can be shared and experienced in a living and evolving world. It is CCP's belief that massively multiplayer games are the biggest revolution in computer gaming history and CCP is dedicated to making the dream of a true virtual reality come into being. EVE Online has sustained continuous growth since its release in 2003. The players all co-exist on one server, in one game world. This means that all players can interact with one another if they choose to do so. It also means that if you are famous in EVE Online, you are known by the entire EVE community, not by the population of one game server. Both the technical design of EVE Online and the emergent social behavior of its community have been praised and studied by scholars and industry professionals across the globe.

Worlds in the works

In November 2006, CCP Games merged with White Wolf Publishing, unifying the creative minds and world-building talents of both teams. We are currently in development of an entirely new breed of virtual world; one that offers a level of immersion and social interaction that will usher in a new age of virtual worlds and online gaming.

A challenging work environment

CCP's goals and projects allow our people to show what they can do. As a result, we have often done what others consider to be impossible.

We´re growing in every direction

Subscriber base, employee base, new products, offices around the world… CCP has a track record of continual growth. Joining a successful, growing company not only means you are becoming part of the building of something great, it also means more opportunities for advancement are available to you in the future.

Starting or advancing your career in the game development industry

It is the reason you visited our website. That opportunity you were looking for is in your hands right now.

Become a part of a close team

When you work, eat and spend the majority of your waking hours in the same location, it becomes your home. The people you collaborate with and work with at CCP become much more than just co-workers. It is an environment of teammates and friends working toward common goals.

Freedom to create

Game developers have the opportunity to build what others can only imagine. Where others say "Wouldn't it be cool if…" a game developer has the freedom to build it and see if it actually is.

Work hard, play hard

If you don't unwind, let off steam and relax after a long day, you're going to explode. Not only does that create a horrid mess, but exploding employees generate a lot of paperwork we would rather avoid. CCP stresses that we must Work Hard to conquer the impossible, and encourages the team to Play Hard, regularly organizing events and gatherings to do so.

Build more than games; build communities

Our games bring people together; hundreds of thousands of players come together in our online virtual worlds. Thousands have travelled to Iceland each year for our annual Party at the Top of the World.

Innovation is more than just a buzzword

We are a company that is not only forward looking but one that brings to life the things we envision. Whether it is new content within our games or new products altogether, CCP consistently turns ideas into reality.

You are passionate about your work

Because, really, that's half the road to success. We want people who are passionate about their ideas and their creations. We want people who want to put their all into everything they do. If you have the desire and drive, CCP is interested in what you can bring to the team.

Unparalleled benefits

Meals provided by our personal chefs in Iceland and the US. Office recreation equipment, as well as pool, beer-pong (uh, ping-pong), and a near endless supply of gaming resources are available at each location. Participation in the Leisure Club/Fun Division provides for company-wide trips to exotic locations such as Budapest and Marrakesh.

Reykjavík, Iceland

It is called the "coolest" destination on earth but the chilliest thing about Iceland is really its name. In January the temperature is usually warmer than in New York and apart from a few blizzards, the rest of the year is temperate and relatively mild. Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital and the centre of Iceland's thriving cultural and economic life. Although not a large city, it offers everything that a cosmopolitan capital prides itself in. There are a wide variety of restaurants in Reykjavik, and no doubt everyone can find something to suit his/her taste. The assortment of cafés and pubs is tremendous, and Reykjavik has become famous for its extreme nightlife.

Atlanta, Georgia

Nicknamed "The Gateway to the South" and well-known for its hospitality and diversity, Atlanta brings the arts and industry both to new heights. Cultural and performance centers in Atlanta range from some of the world's greatest museums and amphitheatres to the nation's most vibrant nightlife. The people of Atlanta are equally diverse, with countless cultures and traditions celebrated and enjoyed throughout the city. Technologically, Atlanta is the business capital of the Southeast and the fourth most wired broadband city in the United States. Atlanta has attracted many major communication and entertainment businesses, and currently leads the nation in attracting the talented college graduates and skilled professionals that companies want to hire.

Shanghai, China

Affectionately called "Paris of the East" and "Asia's Fun Capital" by its visitors, Shanghai is a beautiful combination of the ancient and the avante garde. The Jade Temple, a 125-year old sanctuary for Buddhist Monks, is one of many pockets of living history that can be found within the city's limits. A world of technology has risen around the historical buildings, resulting in a thriving metropolis decorated with some of China's most unique architectural legacies. Shanghai is China's key industrial city, being the largest economic and transportation center in the country. There's a reason that seven out of every ten visitors to China come to Shanghai. The Queen of the Orient awaits you!

Newcastle, UK

Known affectionately to its locals as "The Toon", the city of Newcastle is steeped in 2000 years of rich history. The industrial roots of the city lie in heavy industry and ship building. Today the city is largely recognised as a major business and cultural centre, and the region as a whole has developed into a major hub for games development in the UK. The city and surrounding areas boast some of the most inspirational and iconic architecture in the North East, such as The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, The Millennium Bridge, The Angel of the North and the Sage Gateshead, which plays host to the GameHorizon Conference. The eclectic mix of both historical and modern landmarks and architecture in this vibrant cosmopolitan city, mean that visitors will always find something to see or do.

I worked at CCP full-time (Less than a year)

HR is great, always willing to listen to what you have to say and you know it's true as they act on what you say.

They have different studios, communication was their biggest flaw at the one i was at.

    Advice to Management

The manager I had could have used a bit of "in other people's shoes" mentality. Hard to read. Doesn't bring out the best in artists. Had other great qualities, but I'd say those were pretty bad ones.

    Game Master Interview

Anonymous Employee in Stone Mountain, GA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at CCP (Stone Mountain, GA).

The interview process generally involved an at-home, timed, written test evaluating basic literacy and critical thinking skills. Following that, at least one live, on-site interview took place featuring standard Q&A. That interview potentially featured a trans-Atlantic video conference.

    Interview Questions

    • What is your experience within our game? What areas of the game did you tend to focus on? The interview focused quite extensively on ensuring that the candidate had made the company's product a regular part of his or her daily life.   Answer Question

No negotiation was offered. An offer of employment was made, and the terms were dictated beforehand.
