CHOC Children's – Why Work With Us?

Be a #DefenderofChildhood

At CHOC Children’s, we are a mighty brigade of experts dedicated to caring for children. From our main campus in Orange, CA to our second location at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA, our employees are determined to deliver the best care to our patients, advance pediatric medicine and preserve the magic of childhood.

Join the Mighty Brigade

We understand the importance of enjoying a meaningful career. That’s why at CHOC Children’s, we’ve created a community that fosters collaboration, compassion, excellence and innovation, as well as personal and professional growth.

Whether working at bedside or in a business office, our employees enjoy the unique opportunity to make a difference in kids’ lives. At CHOC, “long live childhood” is our mantra, our rallying cry, and we believe nothing should put childhood on pause.

Pediatric Nursing at a Magnet-designated Hospital

As a Magnet-designated hospital, CHOC promotes the highest-quality nursing practice. Our nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of pediatric experts in a wide variety of areas, rich in technology and amenities, to advance research, treatments and cures. Every day, our nurses make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.

CHOC Children’s is currently hiring for part-time, full-time and per diem experienced pediatric nurses:

  • Medical/Surgical Post-Op
  • Neuroscience
  • Hematology/Oncology
  • Float Pool
  • PICU/CVICU
  • NICU
  • Emergency Department
  • Transport Team
  • Operating Room/Procedure Center
  • Recovery Room

Level-4 NICU

Many hospitals offer intensive care units for newborns, but only a select few are rated by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a Level 4, and even fewer are ranked among the best in the nation, according to U.S News & World Report. CHOC Children’s neonatal programs are that—and more. With three neonatal intensive care units in Orange and Mission Viejo, a team of board-certified neonatologists and other healthcare providers, and special units for the smallest of babies and for those who need complex surgery, CHOC is dedicated—unlike any other place on the West Coast—to giving babies a healthy start.

I have been working at CHOC Children's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love the mission, it's very rewarding working for a pediatric health system. There have been a lot of positive changes and organizational growth over the past few years, a lot more expansion coming. Career development is encouraged, usually easy to move up. Pay and benefits are competitive, free parking. I'm grateful they paid for a large portion of my advanced degree. Lots of autonomy and options to sit on committees/work on special projects. Challenging work, co-workers can rely on each other for help. Innovative organization that promotes growth and development.

    Cons

Growing rapidly, additional resources provided but hard for them to keep up with all required to support growth. Space capacity is an issue in a few areas but they have been working on acquiring more space.

    Advice to Management

Continue allowing employees to be a part of decision-making, monitor workloads and keep providing additional resources as appropriate.
