I have been working at Cabot Microelectronics full-time (More than 5 years)
Good carrier opportunity, good salary and very rewarding in general. Good job live balance. Many room for getting diverse experience. Friendly environment.
Nothing real so far. But because I have to add at least 20 words I have to repeat again: Nothing real wrong
Advice to Management
Keep right people in the right places, preserve creativity in R&D
I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Cabot Microelectronics (Aurora, IL) in January 2017.
I was contacted by the HM via email after submitting an application online. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes, mainly about my resume and a bunch of technical questions. It was followed by a Webex meeting with about five people, where I gave a full presentation (30-40 min) on my past projects. After a month, I was invited for an on-site interview. I was asked to give another full presentation to a room of about 30 scientists. This is the only time so far that I was asked to give TWO full presentations during job applications, and they had to be about different projects. After that was a panel interview, the panel consisted of five people and the interview was divided into two sections: technical and behavioral, each lasted about 45 min. After lunch I was given a site tour by the HM and at last an interview with the director, which was not on the schedule.
The interview process was fine, and generally people were nice to me. I was a bit upset about their decision process though. I followed up with the HR after the interview but never got a response. After two months I finally emailed the HM and got an informal rejection email from him. Thus far I haven't got my travel expense reimbursement, although it was not much money. But after spending so much time and energy on this position, I'd expect at least a little respect from the company.
