I have been working at Calgon Carbon full-time
Though large for the industry, it is a smaller company. The Management deals with issues and problems in a "lessons learned" format rather than immediately placing blame. The company is willing to invest significant capital funds to maintain and improve the facilities and the processes.
The company wants to grow and is doing it by branching out from the core business which is production of activated carbon. If done properly, this strategy can allow a company to grow faster. I have seen it done incorrectly and seen it result in poor performance and, in one case, a bankrupt company.
Advice to Management
Take great care with the expansion of the company. Don't forget the core business and the people who got it to where it is.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Calgon Carbon in January 2009.
