    Positive Outlook

I have been working at California Department of Human Resources part-time

    Pros

For the IT Division, they are very lenient and flexible with my school schedule. I simply submit what hours I want to work during the week from Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm. I can call off without worrying about trades, however, I still keep in mind that I can help cover for the Help Desk hours.

    Cons

There aren't too many others who are college students as well, so it can be boring sometimes to not be able to interact with others my age.

    Advice to Management

I advise possibly offering college fee waivers for the parking. $120/month for parking at the connected structure is hard on college students, especially with our weekly hour cap of 30 hours.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at California Department of Human Resources (Sacramento, CA) in August 2016.

    Interview

I entered a conference room with a panel of IT staff and they asked just a few questions. I was the only candidate for that day but I assume interviews are always conducted with one candidate at a time.

    Interview Questions

    • What should you look for in terms of inventory management?   Answer Question
    • Tell us about a difficult situation you had at work, and how did you resolve the issue?   Answer Question
    • How would you go about getting rid of a virus on a computer?   Answer Question
