Pay Attention to What's Hiding Behind the Curtain

Alan DiCicco makes the case that digital transformation cannot succeed when vendors hide legacy systems behind layers of abstraction and middleware. The true SDA solution shines through when service providers mandate native interface integration and API-based programmability for all system objects.

Calix – Why Work For Us?

We at Calix wake up every day and think about one thing – the best way to connect the device-enabled subscriber and the cloud-enhanced Internet of Everything. It’s a noble cause, and one that we share with a finite group of communications service providers (CSPs) around the world whose networks and software define the broadband experience of subscribers everywhere. As the leading provider of innovative communications software, systems, and services to these CSPs, our role is to provide the vision, the insights, and the solutions to enable them to be the service provider of choice to their subscribers.

This formula has worked. As Calix Software Defined Access and Calix Cloud innovations and value-added services enable our customers to transform their businesses and be the winning CSPs of tomorrow, they reward us with double-digit growth and extraordinary loyalty. It’s a virtuous cycle, and as a half-billion dollar start-up, it’s one that is just getting started.

Do you share our passion and want to learn more?

Calix Solutions

  • Simplicity: Streamline the broadband network infrastructure and processes to lower operating costs, gain capital efficiencies, and facilitate subscriber transactions.
  • Connected: Allow subscribers to effortlessly access the content they want, when they want it, at the quality level they desire.
  • Everywhere: Deliver an optimal broadband service experience through flexibility, mobility, and unconstrained access.

    Pros

A great company all around. Treat employees very well. Considerate of their personal and family needs. Working very hard and delivering on an innovative approach within a somewhat staid, slow moving industry. Company is growing faster than market growth. Nice and smart people to work with. Stable company. New sales head excels at transformation and is impacting things positively and quickly. Working from home is not an issue.

    Cons

The industry Calix is in is somewhat slow growing.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Calix (Petaluma, CA) in December 2016.

    Interview

The interview process moved at a nice pace. My first few interviews were over the phone, and they felt more like conversations than interviews. I was able to get a good feel for the organization, their goals, and what the expectations of the role were. They were able to get a good feel for me as a person, as well as my experiences. After three phone interviews I was flown out to Petaluma, CA for an onsite interview, which lasted roughly four hours. I met with all of the individuals I'd already spoken with over the phone, and a few additional people, including Talent & Culture. Again, the interviews felt more like conversations, and I left feeling like Calix was the place for me.
