Interview
I had scheduled two interviews with Calm, one with the hiring manager and a technical screen with another team member. However, my experience with this company turned out to be very negative. On the day of the interviews, two minutes after the scheduled start time, I received an email from the recruiter stating that the interviews were canceled. The email stated that Calm had decided to reevaluate their hiring plans and would pause their hiring efforts for this role for the foreseeable future. I was extremely disappointed and frustrated by this sudden cancellation, especially since I had been excited for these interviews and had spent time preparing for them. What was even more disappointing was the lack of communication from Calm. They reevaluated their hiring plans within just two days of my initial contact with the recruiter, and did not have the decency to inform me ahead of time that there was a possibility that the interviews might be canceled. This lack of communication is unprofessional and disrespectful of a candidate's time and effort. In addition, I have serious ethical concerns about Calm's business practices. Their unprofessional conduct and lack of communication indicate that they do not value their candidates' time and effort. This is a huge red flag for me, and raises serious concerns about how they treat their employees and customers as well. I expected more from a company that promotes mental health and mindfulness. In conclusion, based on my experience, I would not recommend applying for a position at Calm. Their unprofessional conduct, lack of communication, and ethical concerns indicate that they do not prioritize the well-being and respect of their employees, candidates, and customers. I hope that this review serves as a warning to other job seekers and potential customers who may be considering Calm.
