I worked at Cambridge University Hospitals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hundreds of great, genuinely good-willed people all over the hospital. Awesome community spirit and high-quality patient care.

    Cons

Senior management and directorate are self-centered. Not enough money is spent on front-line staff.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring Transformation managers and spend your money on front-line nursing staff.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Cambridge University Hospitals (Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)) in January 2015.

    Interview

About six weeks from initial application, I was invited to attend an interview within the genetics department. I was interviewed by three people in a panel interview which lasted approximately 15 minutes. I was asked a mixture of competency based questions, logical reasoning and questions assessing my suitability to work in a laboratory environment. I was also required to show my understanding of patient confidentiality. This was followed up by a simple short test where you had to spot errors regarding details on patient confidential records.

    Interview Questions

    • Describe one relevant laboratory technique you have used in the past and describe how its use may differ in a healthcare environment.   Answer Question
