Camden Cares

Camden’s volunteerism reflects key elements of our culture: teamwork, improving lives, community, inclusiveness, thanking and fun. We contribute to many diverse organizations in our communities, including crisis centers, food banks, medical research groups, schools, and animal shelters.

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront is another philanthropic organization near and dear to the heart of Camden and it's team members. It's mission is to provide emergency financial aid and other assistance to the families of our wounded warriors and service members. The services they provide include financial assistance, emergency home repairs, appliance repair, and donations of furniture and household items.  This organization gives our Camden Cares teams many diverse ways to serve, give back, and make an impact.

    I have been working at Camden Property Trust full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Camden is built on core values that allows us to be empowered and have fun. Camden offers a number of different programs we can participate in such as the mentor program, Camden blogs, management advisory committee as well as some creative teams for our awards ceremony and conference skits. Camden offers great perks for it's employees - my favorite is the corporate suites. Benefits are great as compared to previous employers within the same industry.

    Cons

    As every workplace has it's room for opportunities - I would have to say that head count per property could be reviewed for improvement. Seeing that Camden is such a great place to work for the number of upper management positions rarely come available leaving little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to initiate reinvention.

    I applied online. I interviewed at Camden Property Trust.

    Interview

    I was contacted for a new build in a an area to Camden. The HR recruiter was very nice in the beginning. I moved my schedule around to accommodate their interviewer availability times on-site. Finally, on the third attempt at scheduling the interview, I got it done.

    1) I was not impressed with the on-site management team (were quite rude actually)
    2) I almost feel like I was made fun of and discriminated against because of where I am from

    The whole thing was unprofessional on their part looking back on it.

    I was already employed making more than they were offering (maybe that's why they didn't really try to win me over?).
    As a professional, it is important for me to get ideas on why I am not offered a position or what I can do better on interviews. I specifically emailed the HR recruiter in very polite tone asking what I could do better and why did I not receive an offer... NO RESPONSE. She was quite poor at responding actually.
