I worked at Canadian Institute full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very nice, friendly team. Good work/life balance. No politics in my experience.

    Cons

Terrible, dysfunctional management. Underpaid employees. Unclear, constantly changing priorities. Not a high performance culture. Outdated tools/systems. No on-boarding process, weak processes in general. Lack of coaching and team spirit. It took years(!) to update the website.

    Advice to Management

Focus on retaining and rewarding high performers, and building a performance-based culture. Ensure that the company has clear strategic priorities.

    Conference Producer Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Canadian Institute (Toronto, ON (Canada)).

    Interview

-Interview 1 with the manager of conference producers, who was very kind and pleasant.
-Assignment where I had to pick a topic and create a sample conference proposal (which wasn't easy but was ultimately a good experience).
-Interview 2 with the manager of conference producers and the manager of the company.
Then roughly a week later I found out I got the job! Woot.
