I worked at CannonDesign full-time (More than 5 years)
Fellow co-workers are very helpful and supportive. It's a great place for collaboration and team building. Hours are flexible and you are rarely overworked like most offices. Overall, the people are great minus a few rotten apples that unfortunately have pull in employees’ careers.
The company loves to pat themselves on the back for what they tell you is going right. Unfortunately, they are usually incorrect. They say they are building management from within and don't hire for those positions but that's exactly what they do. You eventually feel like your role is never changing.
Secondly, they aren't competitive with pay. They have all sorts of excuses about this. Ultimately I think it's why turnover was so high the last few years I was there.
Advice to Management
Invest in the future of the dedicated employees you have. You have time and money invested in them so dont let them go elsewhere because you won't pay what they are worth.
I applied online and was asked to do a phone interview. The interview itself was very basic and average (nothing to worry about), but what really bothered me is that they never followed up either way. I had the phone interview over a month ago. I'm ASSUMING I didn't move forward in the interview process because they never reached out again, but it would have been nice to receive an email letting me know. It's incredibly rude and inconsiderate of this company to waste applicants' time like this. If I'm going to spend time doing a phone interview with you, the LEAST you can do is send me a half-hearted, computer-generated rejection email. To completely blow off applicants who spent time applying and interviewing is very unprofessional. It's funny to me how some companies care so little for how they treat applicants, when this kind of behavior is SO telling of the way they would treat you if you ended up becoming their employee. I guess I dodged a bullet!
