Current Contractor - FedTour Director in Washington, DC

I have been working at Capital Communications Group as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I’ve been working with CCG since 2012 and I’ve had a great experience till now. Not only was it a good transition into my current line of work but I can say that I have friends from all walks of life. Being a FedTour Director, I started with a $25 rate and now am getting $55 per hour. Most FedTours are conducted on sundays and we usually get some on weekdays. The manager has been amazing with me and the rest of the team and we do get to meet three times per year for briefings and updates. I’m not sure about the old manager but I can definitely vouch for the current one.
I was hoping to apply for a job at the state department and working for this company definitely helped me get in.
The many projects assigned to me helped me have a broader view of the US and the rest of the world.
I never had to ask for a raise and did receive mine, every time I renewed my contract.

    Cons

A few times, I had to remind them to renew my contract.
It is true that it takes some time to receive my check sometimes but my contract does state that they have 30 days to send it over. It happens that I receive it a little after or sometimes I have to ask the accounting department or manager but i do receive it. Knowing that this is a contractor job, I shouldn’t rely on this paycheck to survive.
I rarely meet the President, Akram but it does happen yearly on gatherings which the manager arranges twice every year in awesome private clubs around DC.

    Advice to Management

    Never change!!!
