I have been working at Capitol Records (More than 10 years)

    Pros

State-of-the-art facilities, engineering, historical legacy, client satisfaction, production profitability... we all know Capitol Records is an icon of music production in our lifetimes and those who are blessed to work there are grateful. From the security staff (shout-out to Sergio, Ray and Shanaye) to those who are pros in shepherding your project...Capitol provides you with what you're looking for and opportunities for more! Any intern who gets to work with these people should just say what Stevie Wonder loves to say, "God bless you!".

    Cons

bagels and cream cheese available, if you're watching your weight ;-D

    Advice to Management

Paula Salvatore and her crew (Jenny and Andrew) always know the best thing to do !
Mark, now on the 4th floor, is the helpful Capitol guy who reaches out for customer satisfaction. Charlie in Sound Engineering, Nick and his crew in studio configuration are industry experts.
Jerry is the expert Facilities Management go-to guy for decades! What a wonderful team!!!
Jordan and Ryan are friendly outgoing, helpful and competent relatively new guys in the studios.
If you are passionate, proactive, and people-oriented with an outstanding skill-set and you're willing to do "whatever it takes" to make a difference in the music industry...Capitol is for you!!!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Capitol Records (New York, NY) in July 2017.

    Interview

HR set up a phone call with a manager in California. The next day I was contacted by the New York team to come in to interview in person. They were all nice, but it wasn't very much of a question/answer interview. A few weeks later I emailed to follow up. No reply. A week after that I followed up with someone else- no reply. A month after the interview I emailed the original person- still no reply. At that point I just wanted them to tell me, and I found it even stranger that they wouldn't reply. Asked HR about the status and no one seemed to know. Very unprofessional to not even reply and let someone know they weren't selected for a position. I understand people are busy but everyone's time is worth the same and if someone takes the time to come in for an interview, a simple "sorry" email from HR would be sufficient. Looking back, I shouldn't have wasted my time interviewing for a low paid glorified assistant position. Also- experienced jobseekers, I've realized if the people you interview with keep reiterating how "hard" the job is, you shouldn't have to prove to them that you're a competent worker. If you have more than 10 years experience on your resume, they shouldn't be doubting your ability to get the entry level job done. They're just going to hire someone with no experience anyway, so good luck with all that "hard" work.
