    Pros

Training is good for my entry level
Consensus-driven culture (generally a good thing), whereby every decision is taken by committee, can sometimes lead to numerous back-and-forths and long decision times
Dramatic company growth in the past couple of years (putting lots of pressure on infrastructure though)

    Cons

Lack of upward mobility, lack of personal growth, unclear, ill-defined career path. Some people in positions of power lack management skills
Compensation and yearly raises are well below industry average
Highly specialized roles with limited transferability
    Tedious work
Turnover is high among junior employees.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capstone Investment Advisors (New York, NY) in December 2009.

    Interview

They were interviewing for a quant finance position. Some general knowledge and questions about background. One question on coding a sorting algorithm and another about graphing what different greeks do for a variance swap under a few different situations. Also, about how to hedge something like that with listed products.

    Interview Questions

    • They just wanted me to analyze an exotic product that I had never heard of knowing that I had no experience with exotics on my resume. I'm not sure why they interviewed me to be honest.   Answer Question
