Mission: The Cardinal Group culture embodies many different elements: it's about improving as a team and having fun while growing together, personally and professionally; it's about achieving the improbable with fewer people and fewer resources ...
If you have been with Cardinal for more than a few hours you have probably heard the word CULTURE. If you haven't, then please see Del for a proper explanation of what it is and why we have it. Have you ever wondered why it's so crucial to have or more importantly how do you get it? We all know there is a consensus that the culture at Cardinal is great but it shouldn't stop at the HQ level. I've heard the feedback that "I can't wait to get to HQ, they have so much fun, the culture is so great there" but how do you think all of that started?
CM's this one is for you!
Culture and camaraderie start at the top, and for most onsite teams that person is the Community Manager. Being a CM is a tough gig, trust me I was one for many years. One of the best takeaways I had from my time as a CM was watching my team grow and take on bigger roles. Their accomplishments felt just as much like my own because I knew I helped them gain the tools and training they needed to succeed. Being a manager isn't about actually managing the day to day tasks and reports, it's about being a leader.
The true strength of Cardinal’s Culture is that it was there in the beginning and has strengthened over the years. Our Culture has been tested time and time again in difficult situations that required tough decisions, rapid growth, and constant change. It has survived business pressures, leadership turnover, and competition for attention and priority among other initiatives.
Today, 10 years later, the Cardinal Culture has been forged under fire. It is resilient, it is strong, and it is ready for the next 10 years of challenge. Our Culture has slayed dragons, conquered beasts, and today is the driving force that brings us all together as a Team. It serves as the bedrock we stand upon for support. It survives. It wins. And it is ready for more

We are intentional about growing and promoting our team. As our company has expanded, we have been able to promote from within by investing in our team upfront and building leaders along the way. Our Annual Leadership Summit and Annual Summer Development Program are two successful conferences hosted by Cardinal Group to identify and grow future leaders in the company.
Cardinal Group is committed to providing young leaders from across the nation an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and gain exposure to the various elements that make our business run. At our Annual Summer Development Program (SDP), we take an all-encompassing look into HQ's operations. We intend for participants to leave with a new perspective on our company, our industry, and the long-term opportunities available to grow with Cardinal.
The Championship Belt is awarded each month to a team member who has gone above and beyond their day-to-day tasks to embody the Cardinal Culture and Core Values. This peer-nominated award is a long-time tradition of Cardinal that symbolizes appreciation, hard work, and dedication. And as an added bonus, this 2lb flashy wrestling belt is a great way to live out your childhood WWE dreams.
I have been working at Cardinal Group Companies full-time (Less than a year)
A lot of my reasons to come to Cardinal Group was to escape the "stuffy corporate culture" and it has lived up to everything that was discussed in my interviews. I am treated like an adult, trusted to get my work done on my schedule, and able to give my opinion and be heard. My job allows me the opportunity to be the professional I want while also maintaining the person I want to be outside of work also. I am so thankful for my decision to take the leap out of my last position to join this awesome group.
None that I can think of!
Advice to Management
Keep being transparent and holding meetings to give people insight into the "behind the scenes"
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cardinal Group Companies (West Lafayette, IN) in May 2015.
The interview was very personable. I felt so comfortable and at ease with the questions. We sat in the clubhouse and I told my manager who I was and why I was wanting this job. She showed me around the property and explained the type of business they do. Culture was a big thing the emphasized and I absolutely loved it!
