Cardinal Health Gives Back means that we bring our best efforts to tackle challenging issues and our employees all around the globe are passionate about giving back to the communities where we live and work. We volunteer our time, energy and dollars to the causes most important to us. We run, walk and bike to raise research funds. Here’s some of the ways Cardinal Health gives back:

  • Employee Activism: Through personal contributions, matches from our Foundation, and various grants, our employees have generated more than $18 million for their communities since 2008. Our employees support 2,000+ organizations nationwide.

  • Cardinal Health Foundation: The Cardinal Health Foundation matches employee contributions dollar-for-dollar for health-related organizations and fifty cents on the dollar for all others. Nearly every nonprofit organization that our employees care about qualifies for the match, up to $2,000 per employee per year.  The Cardinal Health Foundation has also invested nearly $2.5 million in grants to impact food insecurity and housing instability, to strive to help build communities where all people have the opportunity to live healthy lives and share their perspectives and experiences. 

At Cardinal Health, we are passionate about giving back.  Our philanthropic efforts focus primarily on three key initiatives:  investing in healthcare and community health, supporting our employees' commitment to their communities, and fighting prescription drug misuse.

  • Generation Rx:  Cardinal Health has been deeply committed to finding and supporting solutions to the public health crisis of prescription drug misuse since 2009.  Generation Rx was founded at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and has been powered through a partnership with the Cardinal Health Foundation.  Generation Rx is an evidence-informed prevention education and awareness program designed for anyone to use to educate people of all ages about safe medication practices and the potential dangers of misusing prescription medications.  To date, its medication safety messages have reached more than 2 million people across the country

  • Disaster Relief: From wildfires and tornadoes in the United States to tsunamis and cyclones around the globe, Cardinal Health and its employees have sprung into action, time after time, to help those in urgent need. Since 2008, Cardinal Health has donated more than $150 million in medical products, which are often the most needed items in times of disaster.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are a vital resource for both our business and our workforce. ERGs provide our employees a place where likeminded individuals who share interests, passions, and a common bond or background, can come together to offer support and encouragement. Below is a list of all the ERGs currently supported at Cardinal Health:

  • African American Network (AAN)

AAN, composed of nearly 800 members, is dedicated to create and foster a culture supporting development, recruitment and retention within the African American constituency, to promote a holistic representation within our workforce, and to provide service within the communities in which we live.

  • Asian Pacific American Network (APAN)

  • Disability Advocates Network (DAN)

Inclusive events such as the celebration of National Disability Awareness Month in October and Mental Health Awareness Month in May builds collaboration between all employee resource groups and provides a platform to elevate topics pertaining to mental and physical disabilities to the forefront.

  • PROUD Network

For 12 consecutive years, PROUD has received a score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, the United States’ premier benchmarking report on corporate policies and practices.  

  • Hispanic American Network (¡HOLA!)

The ¡HOLA! strategic goals are supported by three pillars: career development, community partnership, and cultural connectedness.  We offer career workshops, lunch n’ learns, volunteer opportunities, mentorship, membership drives, coffee chats, and much more.        

  • Veterans & Military Advocates (VMA)

The goal of VMA is to provide a diverse & inclusive employee resource group that offers volunteer opportunities in our local communities, supports Veteran-aligned causes and provides programs to further Veteran retention at Cardinal Health.  We have strategic relationships with USAA, Dept. of Veteran Affairs, and USA Cares, to name a few.  

  • Women’s Initiative Network (WIN)

The goal of the WIN is to foster partnerships that create a great place for women to work and grow their careers while building a sustainable competitive advantage for Cardinal Health.  WIN is compiled of eight different chapters:  Corporate, Independent Sales Force (ISF), Nuclear Pharmaceutical Segment (NPS), Midwest, North, South, West, and Puerto Rico.
