I have been working at Carthage Area Hospital part-time (More than a year)
Small rural hospital, quality customer care. Learning experiences are great. As a RN you may float to other areas of hospital to learn new areas and experiences. Nursing manager, June Ardnt is an amazing OR Manager. CAH offers BLS, ACLS, PEARS, PALS, NRP, AORN certification available.
Limited care on acuity levels.
Management needs some work. Nursing Supervisors only have associates degree and lack the leadership and management skills to lead nursing staff. Limited equipment at times. Limited educational advancement. No critical care, no cardiovascular certifications to ensure your nursing skills are up to date for cardiovascular patients.
Advice to Management
More knowledgeable nursing supervisors are needed. As well as a friendlier management staff.
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Carthage Area Hospital (Carthage, NY) in February 2013.
Terrible interview process. Lack of professionalism on Human Resources Department. They lack the knowlege of what a RN duties and skills are. The nursing manager for MSP was late to interview and talked about herself 90 % of the interview.
No negotiation was available. CAH has a union based scale for pay.
