What We Stand For: Catapult’s Core Values
Why We Exist
Ask anyone on our team why they came to Catapult Systems, or why they are still here, and unanimously they will say: “the people”. In fact, the foundation of Catapult’s success has always been our people and each person, regardless of role, plays an integral part in that success.
“I’ve never felt like I had to “sell” Catapult in an interview. The company tends to sell itself through the people a candidate meets.” –Liam, Executive Team (Celebrating 17.5 years with Catapult)
IT consulting is a challenging field, and it’s not for everyone. It takes a combined effort from Catapult’s corporate and consulting teams to realize the success our clients have come to expect. When you work with great people, you’re learning each and every day and you’re empowered to make decisions, the result is high employee AND high client satisfaction.
Bottom line – Catapult Systems is a place where you matter, and what you do matters. You will be challenged, and you will make a difference in the lives of your co-workers, in the lives of our clients and in the communities in which we live.
Celebrating Employee Successes
Celebrating successes and employee recognition from Catapult leadership and peers is core to Catapult’s strong culture. Core values, success stories, teamwork, work anniversaries, and even making the smallest impact in someone’s life are underlying themes for us every day, and recognizing these achievements is woven in the fabric of our 360 feedback and company meeting rhythms. We also award multiple Employees of the Year across our nine Business Units and corporate functional areas at our annual holiday parties. These awards are special as they are voted on by your peers.
“What I treasure most is the daily and weekly validation of a job well done that I receive from my fellow co-workers. It makes my day when someone takes a minute to say thank You. Our Catapult team does this better than anyone else.” – Michelle, Accounting (Celebrating 7.5 years with Catapult)
Our tenured employees, who have grown with Catapult Systems over the years, are fundamental in continuing a longstanding culture of innovation, teamwork and fun. We celebrate and recognize our tenured employees at every career milestone. These “old timers” are vital to our Ambassador Program, which pairs a new hire with a tenured employee to introduce them to our culture and provide guidance in this important transition into our company.
We also like to highlight our MVP’s on staff who are published authors in their perspective fields. These key players are a vital part of our professional development initiative. They set a high standard and encourage others to keep up with the latest industry trends. Click here to view our MVP's and their published works.
I love working for Catapult Systems because the commitment of our staff motivates me to provide excellent service.
Greg, Internal IT
Even after 10 years, every day is a new adventure. We have the best clients, the most interesting projects, and the highest quality consultants I have ever been associated with.
I get to work in diverse customer environments, solve complex technology issues, while having a dynamic and highly knowledgeable support team behind me. It's a fun company to work for!
I love working for Catapult as it provides me an opportunity to work with some very smart people and very cool technologies without sacrificing work-life balance.
Catapult is a world class organization. Customer satisfaction is essential in our business, but it must first start with taking care of our employees!
Terri, Executive Team
Culture: Work. Play. Volunteer.
In order to provide the highest quality of services, Catapult Systems hires, develops and retains the very best people in the business. The integrity and work ethic of our people is the backbone of our commitment to our clients’ satisfaction and business success.
Our goal has always been to create an environment that brings out the very best in our employees. As such, Catapult fosters an environment of teamwork, learning, challenge and fun. And, we understand that balance between your work and personal life is essential.
We are so committed to our company culture that we put all new employees through the Catapult Boot Camp – a three-day introduction to Catapult’s vision, core values, customer service practices, rules of empowerment and standards of professional conduct. Company expectations and the groundwork for employee success are set here.
Fun is at the heart of our core values. We have frequent fun events that get people out of the office to kick back and relax with colleagues. Movie nights, local sporting events, K2 racing (yes – we are competitive!) bowling, happy hours, appreciation lunches, chili cook-offs and overly-indulgent dessert socials are commonplace (apparently we like to eat too.). We also celebrate holidays like Halloween with an annual companywide costume contest!
Catapult Kids Day is an opportunity for Catapult Kids to be exposed to a business environment, learn valuable life lessons and to have fun! Our HR department creates a traveling kids camp filled with fun activities and prizes.
Catapult is always looking for new and innovative ways to bring innovative wellness solutions to our employees. From inviting nutritionists to speak at a lunch and learn sessions to neck-and-neck step challenge competitions. We have an entire committee of people dedicated to permeating wellness into our workplace.
Catapult offers a formal mentoring program to all new employees called the Ambassador Program. Ambassadors help the new employees get acclimated to Catapult’s culture, way of doing things, and introduces the employee to others in their business unit. Ambassadors are there to help answer any questions and/or assist with challenges that may arise in those first critical months.
Passion is at the center of our volunteer initiative. Each business unit has a core group of people that meet to discuss a community involvement course of action each year. We aim to give back to the community with our time, service, labor, or donations on a regular basis. Some of the organizations we have teamed up with are Habitat for Humanity, Blue Santa, and CASA.
“Whether you’re on the committee, send in donations, or volunteer your time, the volunteer brigade is great way to give back to the community! I find volunteering my time is the most rewarding, with about 6 different events a year, the brigade has something for everyone.”
- Michele, Accounting (Celebrating 2 years at Catapult)
The “CatTeam” program helps promote good fitness, teamwork and a good work/life balance! Catapult will supplement the cost of registration and team uniforms for any qualifying* after-hours team-oriented events such as 5k’s, and team sports.
Catapult provides a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to help our employees maintain a good balance in both their personal and professional lives. In addition to the typical benefits offered, Catapult has many others that distinguish who we are and the lifestyles we enjoy.
Professional development at Catapult Systems is so unique that it has a language of its own. We call it the Alpha Track, and it is designed to build leaders through a blend of virtual and in-person interactive learning in the areas of technology, consulting, professional and leadership skills. It’s all about progression of your capabilities – at Catapult you can count on forward momentum in the skills that will make a difference in your career.
Catapult’s Alpha track will accelerate the pace and depth of your growth as a professional and as a leader. Your capabilities and contributions are our greatest value, and we boldly invest in them. Through Alpha Track, each Catapult consultant has a personalized plan and a designated leader who shares responsibility with them for their growth. A personalized plan? Absolutely. We believe that our future leaders should be developing in their area of specialization, be it delivery of technology projects, Microsoft technology expertise, interactive design or managed services, and that without a plan, it’s impossible to move forward.
The Alpha Track is a series of learning experiences designed to develop your specific skills through case-based small group learning, online education, individual mentoring, and project experience working with our clients and internal teams. You will grow in your ability to design and build technology solutions, work with clients effectively, manage technology initiatives, and lead people. As your capabilities expand, you will progress through the four levels of the Alpha Track.
Get on the Alpha track. You’ll have an ongoing series of experiences and accomplishments which will be defining moments in your progression as a professional. Magnify your own expectations and achievements. Warning: ah-ha moments ahead!
Catapult University + Catapult Live
In addition to Alpha Track, we continually expand our levels of technical and business expertise by investing in the professional development of our people through our employee-led Catapult University and Catapult Live. All Catapult consultants have annual certification and training goals to keep them challenged and up to speed on the latest technological advances.
Communities of Practice
Catapult’s Communities of Practice (CoP) are places where our employees congregate and collaborate in our virtual knowledge base. These online communities provide a place for you to connect with others who share your interests, to learn more about what’s going on in your chosen field and to surface fresh ideas. It’s a great opportunity to share and evolve best practices and demonstrate your leadership. Our team produces a monthly Communities of Practice Newsletter that highlights our employee accomplishments and announces new initiatives. These communities live and thrive through the contributions and leadership of the whole team – not just one individual.
I have been working at Catapult Systems full-time (Less than a year)
Catapult is a great place to work, and below are only just a few reasons why:
Bring the team attitude - everyone works together and we work hard.
Catapult recognizes employees that make a difference - and often.
Catapult promotes to higher-level positions (including management) from within - great opportunities for the right leaders. Not everyone needs/wants to be a manager, but there are plenty of leadership opportunities.
Catapult's management team (GMs through most senior execs) is approachable and supportive. There's a strong sense of family at all levels.
None whatsoever. Catapult is a great place to work.
Advice to Management
The company is doing an excellent job transforming to a total-solutions approach as well as globally. I don't understand any of the negative reviews on Glassdoor, as I have nothing but great experiences - it is a shame that disgruntled individuals can wield so much influence on the rankings of a great company! Keep looking out for and grooming your key contributors and embrace them.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Catapult Systems (Austin, TX) in January 2016.
This is the best interview process I have ever encountered. I felt that the process was very thorough and good at finding people who fit well into roles and into teams.
I had 3 interviews -- 1) phone interview with recruiter, 2) in-person interview with managers (lunch), and 3) in-person interview with upper management and team lunch. I then received an offer later that week.
I really enjoyed the interview (as much as you can enjoy an interview) because, while it wasn't an easy interview, there weren't any intimidation tactics or patronizing that you sometimes see in interviews. There was an equal focus on knowledge of technology and personality.
