Celarity – Why Work For Us?


 

In 1990, husband and wife duo Doug and Marlene Phipps co-founded “Phipps Creative Services,” a boutique graphic design firm that specialized in providing illustration and design services for large corporate clients like 3M, General Mills and Fingerhut.

A Surprise

In 1993, Marlene began a sister company that supplied creative talent to work onsite at a client’s location. The surprising thing she found out, was there was a huge, untapped market that preferred to have freelancers work onsite rather than outsourcing projects. This allowed clients to manage entire projects from start to finish at significant cost savings. After one year, she learned that this business model had a lot of growth potential and persuaded Doug to join her at the new company. That sister firm, formerly known as Freelance Creative Services, evolved into what is today known as Celarity.

A Bigger Surprise

An even bigger surprise was that in 1998, the untapped marketing and creative staffing industry was so huge in the Twin Cities that a number of large national staffing firms “discovered” our local marketing/creative community and opened up offices to claim their piece of the market share. Luckily, Celarity was established quite well by the time the national companies showed up on the scene. Celarity set themselves apart by taking good care of the local marketing and creative talent through the provision of perks unheard of in the staffing industry at the time. They are still a leader in providing contractor benefit options to this day.

Celarity gives back to the marketing, creative, and tech communities through many association sponsorships, volunteering and hosting of events. Celarity maintains a community calendar on their website which tracks and promotes all the weekly marketing, creative and tech events which encourages the importance of networking within the local community.

Still Growing

Today, with nearly 25 years in the business of Creating Happy Careers, Celarity is still growing. As the longest-standing staffing agency focusing where marketing and creative meet technology, Celarity understands how best to serve the local community.

Our Recruiting Process

  1. Apply: Check out our openings in marketing, creative and IT. Find the position that fits and submit your resume. (If you don’t see your exact specialty, submit your resume anyway; our recruiters still want to make connections with top talent!) Your resume is then sent directly to one of our recruiters.

    Interview

    Phone screen and two in-person interviews. Quick turn around-- heard back almost immediately. The interviews were laid back but professional. Asked unconventional questions, like "tell me about high school" and my top three favorite songs. Not intimidating at all.
