Cengage – Why Work For Us?

At Cengage, we are united by a single belief: Every student has the potential to be unstoppable.

We see a world where every student is a confident learner. Where all learners are propelled by the power of education. A world where they get further with every question, sharper with every lesson and stronger with every challenge. A world of acceleration, advancement and ambition. We see a world where students have the audacity to know their potential and the tenacity to make it real. So that no matter where they go or what they strive for, they will be unstoppable.

Who We Are

Cengage is the education and technology company built for learners.

What We Do

We create learning experiences that build confidence and momentum toward the future students want.

Why We Do It

Confident students are successful learners, so we design tools that keep them moving toward their goals.

How We Do It

  • Our flexible learning tools give students access to content where and when they need it, so that they can learn in sync with their work, school and life.
  • Our immersive experiences let students go deep and master concepts so that they don’t just get the grade they want; they gain skills for life.
  • Our on-demand customer service offers students and faculty the support they need to solve any problem and keep moving forward.

Around Cengage

Our culture fosters collaboration at every turn. Instead of offices with closed doors, you’ll find open minds ready to work together to transform education, with everyone taking a vital part in meeting the challenges. But it’s not all work and no play. At each of our offices you’ll find a mix of hard work and fun activities that include summer picnics, food and craft beer tastings, holiday parties and more.

Our Ethos

We are building a company with the courage and creativity to take the unbeaten path. We are attracting a team of trailblazers from all around the world and all walks of life. We will create a place where we invent the future of education and learning together. This is our ethos!

Our Credo

It's not a traditional mission, vision or values statement but, quite simply, a statement of who we are. The Credo guides the choices we make as a company and as individuals.

Keep Learning

If we’re not learning, we’re not advancing. Through our expanding Learning and Development program, you can take advantage of online and in-person programs to build new skills and advance your career. We also offer tuition reimbursement, so you can build formal continuing education into your professional development plan.

Join Our Team

At Cengage, you will work with a team of dedicated professionals building innovative solutions that improve teaching and learning at colleges, universities and libraries. I have been working at Cengage full-time (Less than a year)

With the quickly changing "textbook" industry, one of the great things about Cengage is that we are constantly challenged for new and better ways to help our customers solve their issues related to education affordability, access, and student outcomes.
Getting up for work everyday is easy when you feel that you are with a company that is sincerely working to make a difference in such an important industry as higher education.
The people I have met at Cengage make the difference. There is very little company politics here and people genuinely try to support and help each other, which is refreshing in the rat-race that is the corporate world.
Cengage is also very flexible--- the goal is productivity rather than where your office is, when you clock in/out, etc...
It is fun being the first to market with Cengage Unlimited, our digital subscription of all our content. Watching the competition scrambling to catch up is pretty fun, as well.

Not a lot of cons that are major. Pay, perks, vacation, and benefits are fine and probably about average for a company this size.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing the envelope on being a leader in the industry and providing a vision that gives meaning to the work we do everyday.

    Average Interview

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Cengage (Farmington Hills, MI) in February 2017.

Several phone/Skype interviews with different district sales managers. Final in-person interview with sales management team consisted of project preparation and presentation. Fairly standard process but lengthy. They definitely know how to treat a prospective employee though. All arrangements were handled with great care and professionalism.
