I worked at Centrelink as a contractor (Less than a year)
Awesome pay, really flexible with what times you can and can't work, supportive team
Some of the team leaders weren't great at helping out. But they were really stressed with all the new recruits (there were a LOT), and finding a parking really sucked, it was difficult unless your shift started early even then you needed to be there about 20 or 30 mins prior to your shift to find a decent spot.
Advice to Management
Share more information about what is going on in terms of employee contracts and their positions rather than leaving employees and team leaders to speculate based on rumours. It made it feel like the management were some upper class entity who occasionally came down to employee level to look at us and laugh and throw some grey confetti about before leaving again.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Centrelink in May 2013.
At the time the interview process was very simple. I applied online and received a call the next day, they asked me a few questions and let me know the next day that I had the job.
