We're huge fans of Seattle but we know it might not be the center of your universe. We want to work with the best and brightest wherever they live. That's why you don't have to live in Seattle to work at Chef. We have employees who live and work all around the United States. We've worked hard to create a remote-friendly culture and believe you can have a big impact no matter where you live.
Diversity and inclusion are time sensitive issues that we are well aware of and focused on tackling here at Chef. That said, while we recognize and acknowledge the need to discuss and act on changing the way we promote diversity in our workplace, we also realize there is no "quick fix". I have been working at Chef Software full-time
You get to work with lots of smart people and interesting problems. Amazing culture, and excellent benefits. Very big focus on the fact that your job isn't your life, and that your family matters.
It's a growing company. There's lots of change, so something you likes yesterday may not be the same tomorrow.
Advice to Management
You know this already, but communicating across the company is key, and continuing to make sure that everyone is aware of things is super important.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Chef Software in May 2017.
Chef is an incredible group of people with serious products and deep technology. Every person I interacted with has been genuinely humble and ridiculously smart. I couldn't accept the generous offer for unrelated personal reasons, but I very much hope to work with these folks in the near future.
To me, this is the sort of company everybody wants to be but falls short. Chef actually does it.
The interview process only took a ~week. It started with a great conversation, followed by a very interesting homework challenge, and then a few more conversations - technical and soft.
I loved Chef's culture, the products, and the tech. It's the real deal.
Thank you very much for the wonderful experience.
