Farm-to-Fast Food™ Revolution

We believe the Chopt approach is the future of fast food. Fast food as an industry moved our country’s eating habits, agricultural practices and environment in a dangerous direction, and everyday we are driven by the same goal from which Chopt was first founded: to build a force of good and undo what fast food broke. For us, the future is not an afterthought. It’s the end goal we strive toward every day. Every decision for us is an intermediate decision toward that goal. We’re building a world where the fastest, most convenient, most accessible, most affordable food is healthy food, flavorful food, fine dining quality and creativity food, food that supports the local community, the local farmers and food systems, the local workers who are part of our team. If we do it well, there will be followers, more restaurants, more people like us. The food landscape will change. And then choosing healthy (healthy for you, for your family, for your community) will be a no brainer, the default. No counting calories or fad diets or thinking about what goes into your mouth except what you’re craving. No thinking about your food. Just enjoying it. The way it should be. Think about where else we can put our energies when that future is a reality. So it’s important for us to think of ourselves as “fast food”. Fast food messed up. We have to fix it.

Founding Story

When Tony Shure and Colin McCabe were in college in the Midwest, they were shocked to see the lengths students would go to beat their freshman 15. College kids seeking healthy options were standing in lines out the door for frozen yogurt in the middle of winter, or heading to the local pizza place just for the salad bar. Tony and Colin knew they could do better.

At a time when salads were considered by most to be just a side dish, Tony and Colin believed delicious, farm-fresh salads could take center stage. The lettuce would be cool and crisp, and the dressings would be made from scratch in small batches. The salads would be inspired by culinary traditions around the world, and chopped so that the textures and flavors came through in every bite.

More than a decade later, Chopt continues to innovate. As the first salad specialists, Tony and Colin are still looking for ways to push the boundaries of what a salad can be, looking ahead to a future where vegetable eating – and better fast food – is the norm.

Managing Partner Program: Culture of Choprtunity

Our Managing Partners not only continue to achieve our standards for food quality, hospitality, people development and profitability, but they also consistently demonstrate ownership of their restaurant. In exchange, the Managing Partner Program rewards these high performing operators with financial ownership. Managing Partners are given the opportunity to earn a percentage of profits from their restaurant. The end result is that these individuals have a real ownership stake in their stores and monetarily benefit from running highly profitable restaurants. In addition, Managing Partners receive other benefits such as paid sabbaticals and are provided with opportunities to mentor young managers.  As in everything we do, Chopt takes pride in breaking traditional molds and doing things better than our competition. With this in mind, we believe that our Managing Partner Program represents a better way to compensate our high performing General Managers.

A few good words that describe Benjamin Reyes are passion and dedication to excellence. For years, Ben has been able to take his passion for Chopt and bring it to the table consistently everyday. He inspires and motivates his team to pursue excellence. No matter what challenges he encounters, he is always focused on giving the customer the best service and giving his team a great work culture.             Meet Senior Managing Partner Ramiro Thlauetl

Ramiro started his career with Chopt in 2001. He has demonstrated success in his knowledge of every element of our operations.  He has tackled high volume restaurants and further improved their revenue and profit.  Even more impressive, however, is the vast amount of Choprs he helped to develop – to Shift Leader, to AM, and many all the way to GM. Many of our existing managers have worked with Ramiro and learned from him at some point or another and they all recall all of the valuable lessons he passed on to them. He is a dedicated leader and he epitomizes the essence of the Managing Partner Program which was why he was named the first MP when the program was implemented back in 2013.

Meet Managing Partner Diana Apuango

Diana started with Chopt as a cashier and worked her way through the hourly ranks by demonstrating dedication, patience and a great work ethic. Over the many years Diana has been with Chopt, she has worked at several restaurants in the company and wherever Diana works, she is able to build strong relationships with her team while making a positive impact on the profitability of the business. Diana exhibits the true meaning of the Managing Partner designation because she works with resilience and determination and she has successfully grown the business at West 51st Street with her ownership mentality.

    I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Chopt Creative Salad Company (Charlotte, NC) in September 2015.

    Sat dawn and completed a online screaner and then I spoke with the General Manager who filled me in on the responsibilities of working here. Another things was that I did not score higher on the screening portion as far as customer service, but my conversations held up with the manager to get offered the job.
