I worked at City of Augusta GA full-time (Less than a year)
Great hours, State of Georgia Retirement System, will send you to conferences to learn more, many holidays and half days before a holiday. Planning takes place in both Georgia and South Carolina, due to the regional area, so plenty of opportunity to learn and practice regional planning, and understand how to navigate the political and policy climate.
High turnover rate in certain departments, HR understands certain supervisors are horrible but refuses to do anything about them, low industry pay but decent pay for Georgia, very little upward mobility.
Advice to Management
Invest more in employees, particularly if they lack skills. Hold supervisors and directors to higher standards, or at least industry standards, especially when HR is aware of complaints. Let people use flex time, don't let it be up to directors to play favorites or tyrant with something that should be available to everyone. If people have to work overtime because of staffing issues, pay them for overtime, instead of forcing them to work off the clock, and then blaming them for having to work off the clock, and doctoring timesheets to avoid federal trouble.
I was called to schedule an interview. The interview was scheduled about a week later. I had an in-person interview. About 2 to 3 weeks later I received a phone call saying that I was selected for the position.
