Good benefits package with flexible time off and pay is great, especially considering minimal eduction requirement. Can specialize in a couple years and then the job is mostly repetitive
Dispatching for public safety is an emotional drain and has a high burnout/turnover rate. Overtime is mandatory and you can not always plan around it. First 5+ years will be on 10 hour overnight shifts and does not generally work for older workers or families.
Advice to Management
Without advancement options, tenured staff become sedintary and do enough to complete daily expectations often creating conflicts with new staff that are motivated.
