    Pros

Good benefits, good co-workers, get to take the car home, and fairly competitive pay.

    Cons

Like most police departments, most things are seniority based so performance/ability doesn't always matter.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to the officers doing the bulk of the actual police work and try to make decisions that best benefit the largest group as often as possible.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at City of Lubbock, TX Police Department (Lubbock, TX) in April 2015.

    Interview

After applying I was e-mailed back to set up an interview, followed by an in person greeting and tour of the facility. Afterwords I received a phone call to set up a time to take a typing test and a basic assessment for the job. After successful completion I had a panel interview with the three managers. Drug test, psychology assessment and training followed.
