I worked at City of Winnipeg part-time (More than 5 years)
Good pay, nearly impossible to get fired once you have seniority, good benefits.
Management is only in that role because they were too apathetic to do anything with their lives and take their unhappiness out on employees. 0 qualifications for the job. Very bureaucratic, costs are wasted in senseless things even though #1 priority is to cut costs but only staff costs.
Advice to Management
Create a better workspace and you won't have so much trouble finding people to cover shifts. Give positions by qualifications, not seniority.
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at City of Winnipeg (Winnipeg, MB (Canada)) in March 2017.
Send my resume and cover letter online with form filling. Getting a phone call to book an interview for the next week. Selection panel of 3 employees of the relevant department. Negative Answer by email.
