Anyone transitioned from consulting to FBI special agent? Manager here. Is it a plausible option? The role has always been in the back of my head and on paper it seems like a lot of the skills would transfer. Probably naive, but hoping I’d find more meaning in it, making the pay cut worth it. I see FBI recruiting videos about diversity of backgrounds but not sure how real that is—I’m not former military or LE (though I do shoot competitively as a civilian, for whatever that’s worth.)
Jobs in STEM
Recently switched career fields while coming out of the Air Force into the civilian work with the primary reason of: people in my standard desk job didn't care about performance. I switched into a field that I am naturally very good at, technician/engineering roles. In this role I found people "care" about being good but they typically are never right about who is good or who is bad and it is actually just as much of a political nightmare as it was processing papers. How do I escape this?

Director of Communications InterviewAnonymous Employee in San Diego, CANo OfferNegative ExperienceEasy InterviewApplication
I applied through an employee referral The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Civilian (San Diego, CA)
InterviewInterviewed in 2019 or 2020 after a recruiter reached out to me. Had 2 phone screenings, and then an in-person.
Company seemed very prescriptive and narrow minded. They were definitely looking for specific answers to open ended questions. Pay also seemed very low for skill set they were asking for. Coworkers seemed pretty nice though.
Overall, I think it wasn’t a mutual fit, but i got ghosted and they never followed up with me.Interview
