    I worked at Claims Management full-time (Less than a year)


    Claims Management, Inc, commonly referred to as CMI, is a subsidiary of Walmart (annual associate incentive does apply).

    Your insurance and perks are off the hook! And, the longer you stay, the better they get. Opportunities at Walmart are very wide open.

    The job itself is claims, specifically claims adjusting, but you are referred to as a Case Manager. The day-to-day consists of managing your case load of injured associates. I happened to be assigned to Texas, but there are other jurisdictions in the Carrollton office. Your case load will vary based on many factors, but I saw some as low as 55 and others as high as 80. The job is very reflective of one's personal abilities (I view that as a pro).

    Systems are more than adequate, and the facilities are well maintained. Rarely were there issues on the IT side, and there was not a single instance I can remember of a day-long, really even an hour-long outage of any system.

    Your work schedule is probably as laid back as you will find it anywhere. Many on my team worked 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, whereas I generally worked 9:30 AM to 6:45 PM. The office is open Monday through Saturday, and once you are vetted and salaried you can leverage work-from-home.

    Management has been around for awhile and they are excellent at what they do. It is almost impossible to stump them, and in the rare instances where that may happen, your will get your answer or plan-of-action within an hour. Also, the office and operation is on the smaller side in Carrollton so there is plenty of opportunity to network while simultaneously building relationships.


    Management has been there for awhile. So, even though you do learn alot, sometimes it is outright intimidating (due to your lack of expertise) and daunting (when you consider promotional opportunities).

    Walmart is really poppin', but in Bentonville. Since the office is in Carrollton, it is very-much-so a satellite operation that CMI happened to find a home in.

    If you cannot manage your time, you will struggle early on. Claims move at a pace that cannot be predicted, so if you do not gameplan for the random occurrences (and set aside time to do the little things) you will not like this job.

    I only share this because other people have, too; pay IS on the lower side. It CAN be negotiated, though. Also, the annual incentive that you are eligible for does well to compensate for the lower hourly rate or set salary, depending on your position.

    SIDE NOTE: During my time, I never once looked for other employment. The job keeps you busy and you learn so much that you really appreciate the experience. I was recruited a la Lebron/Wade/Bosh to the proverbial 'South Beach', and it happened to be a BETTER opportunity, so I followed it. Without that, I would absolutely still be there!

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you are doing, and don't overwork yourself.
