Our customers -- by providing competitive and innovative solutions
As one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies, Clariant contributes to value creation with innovative and sustainable solutions for customers from many industries. Our portfolio is designed to meet very specific needs with as much precision as possible. At the same time, our research and development is focused on addressing the key trends of our time. These include energy efficiency, renewable raw materials, emission-free mobility, and conserving finite resources. Our business units are organized into four Business Areas: Care Chemicals, Natural Resources, Catalysis and Plastics & Coatings.
Clariant was formed in 1995 as a spin off from the chemical company Sandoz, which was itself established in Basel in 1886. Through our direct lineage, we have amassed knowledge and experience of chemistry and industry spanning approximately 150 years.
Clariant expanded through the incorporation of the speciality chemicals business of Hoechst (Germany) in 1997, and the acquisitions of BTP plc (UK) in 2000 and Ciba’s Masterbatches division in 2006. In 2008, we acquired the leading U.S. colorant suppliers Rite Systems and Ricon Colors. The latest acquisition, the highly-innovative specialty chemicals company Süd-Chemie (Germany), was completed on 21 April 2011.

Advice to Management
Empower employees, Stop Bureaucracy
I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Clariant North America (Houston, TX) in January 2017.
The hiring process was quite simple. The people were very friendly and forthcoming with information about the company. Although it may not have worked out this time, I would be interested in the future.
