Mission: To provide exceptional leadership and management training to entrepreneurs through real-world business experiences.
Since 1971, College Pro has developed more than 15,000 entrepreneurs, created over 50,000 summer jobs and transformed over 2,000,000 homes. Each year, College Pro select, train and coach over 600 entrepreneurs to run businesses in their local communities across 7 Canadian provinces and 25 U.S. states. These entrepreneurs provide summer jobs in their businesses while transforming homes through residential painting and window cleaning services.
At College Pro, our core purpose is “together, realizing potentials.” We see our company as the coming together of potentials: the potential in our entrepreneurs and their crews; the potential of the home which houses our customers’ most cherished things – the people they love and the treasures and memories of their lives; and, finally, the potential that exists for learning and growth when we meet you. These three potentials are recognized in our logo as three parts of one line, in three different shades of blue, because to us blue means the open sky, and our openness to possibilities is one of our chief values.
College Pro Painters has been one of North America’s best small business success stories. A college student named Greig Clark founded College Pro Painters in 1971, giving other college students a chance to pay for their schooling and to secure post-graduation careers. That makes College Pro the original student-run painting company. Alumni Feature on Greig, here
College Pro Window Cleaning was originally founded in 1988 under the name Action Window Cleaners, and has been delivering exceptional window cleaning services to homeowners for over 20 years, achieving a 97% customer referral rate!
OUR PROMISE: 100% Experience, Guaranteed.
We invest in and believe in the potential of our entrepreneurs, so that they are empowered to run your own businesses in local communities and to become tomorrow’s leaders.
For our entrepreneurs, we know that being a College Pro entrepreneur offers a unique opportunity, in a very compressed way to learn the skills that will enable self-reliance…skills that will enable you to stand out in the eyes of future employers. Our College Pro entrepreneurs are leaders and responsible business owners.
Each year, from the more than 25,000 who apply, we select over 600 driven, enthusiastic entrepreneurs from across the US and Canada. These entrepreneurs employ another 7,000 additional house painters and window cleaners. All represent the College Pro brand, so we are particular about who is selected, and very supportive of those we choose; coaching, training and mentoring you every step of the way as you run your businesses.
As a College Pro entrepreneur, you are your own boss. You manage a territory, and, while doing so, are completely responsible for all aspects of YOUR business. College Pro is there for training, support and mentorship, but ultimately, this is your deal – what you put in is what you get out!!
We asked entrepreneurs & alumni to explain things, in their own (unscripted) words:
Specifically, here is what you'll DO, and consequently what you'll LEARN:
Your training begins in the classroom where we introduce the theory, and some practical examples, through various training sessions that occur mostly on the weekends in the winter months. We believe for the skills we train to really sink in, it requires a personal touch, some real experience, and continual follow-up. Once the skills have been introduced, they are instilled in numerous in-field coaching events.
Once you're a member of the College Pro team, you've got opportunities for advancement, and fast. Cultivate your skills in your business while studying, then move into our full-time staff upon graduation.
Our average full-time team member is promoted after successful completion of 2-3 years as a franchise owner.
WATCH our people talk about the coaching and leadership that helped them to develop:
Is College Pro the summer job for you? Whether you're a student, recent grads or new entrepreneurs? We think so! We live by the motto: Work Hard, Play Hard, and do everything we can to include everybody on the team in that experience.
One of our largest events unfolds in the first week of January every year. We come together, from across North America, for our Entrepreneur Summit (skill conference) and our President's Award Banquet (celebration). In the past this event has taken place in Orlando, Bahamas, Las Vegas, San Diego and most recently New Orleans.
Throughout the entire process, at most training sessions and multiple times through the spring and summer, College Pro has social events that range from house painter and window cleaning team socials, to Franchisee Weekend Celebration events.
We are inspired by some of the great entrepreneurs the world has seen. Some specific quotes that inspire us to work hard so we can play harder are here:
“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people cant.”
“There is only one success- to be able to spend your life in your own way.”
– Christopher Morley
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
– Vince Lombardi
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
– Steve Jobs

Advice to Management
More social events throughout the year.
I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at College Pro (Eau Claire, WI) in November 2016.
One in person interview, next is a phone interview, then an interview with the VP who will eventually decided if you are a good fit. It was pretty straight forward and they were looking at filling positions quickly.
