I have met fabulous people and have found some who are now my best friends.

I believe whole heartedly that an intern position with College Works is the best, life changing internship a college student can find.
Jamie Medrek (University of Massachusetts)
I learned skills that will really help me in the real business world, and I got paid for it.
I'm walking away with a lot more than just money, something more valuable: confidence in job security.
To ensure a professional paint job every time — along with the continued success of our company and student entrepreneurs — College Works Painting is guided by these core values:
Exciting and rewarding? Yes. All fun and games? Hardly. Pass a rigorous interview process and you'll be fully trained on how to manage your very own painting business. The pay-off? Real-world experience they don't teach in school. You'll challenge yourself and your crews. You'll have the chance to earn excellent money. You'll work hard and play hard. And come college graduation, you'll have a big advantage when you hit the job market, bringing skills and a proven résumé others simply don't have.
What's it like with College Works Painting? It's like a major send-off for success in life.
College Works Painting provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity for college students while they are on summer break from classes to challenge themselves and run their very own painting franchise.
With College Works Painting, you'll be trained in the tricks of the trade of owning a business, experience you can take with you into any prospective career. It's not only a seasonal summer job. The real life skill you obtain running a business skill during a summer season of demanding responsbilities will lay the groundwork for a lot of future successes.
Since 1993 College Works has been in the business of providing extraordinary training in leadership and management to college student entrepreneurs by way of real-world work experiences. We are aware, that as a responsible student, your foremost priority is your education, and College Work's training course has been tailored for college students during the time they are in class. As an example, a student's obligation in the spring semester is similar to being an active member of student council or participating in a varsity or Division I or II team sport, or employed in a demanding part-time position. We truly prefer students who are able to deal with the demands of the job: of the more than 10,000 college students who apply for the internship, we decide on just 500 to be selected to manage a crew.
Concerned about your lack of experience? Maybe a bit intimidated? Don't be. Few College Works Painting candidates have had any management experience. That is what we teach. Rest assured, if you possess the desire, background, work ethic, outgoing personality and drive to succeed, you'll fit right in as one of our interns, and go far with us.

This internship was easily the most difficult experience I have ever taken apart of, but I can honestly say I would not change it for anything.
Mike Fasbender (University of Minnesota)
I cannot put into words the roller coaster ride it is to be an intern, but all of the ups and downs come together at the end to leave the intern with a feeling of satisfaction they will not be able to find anywhere else.
Daniel Nadhazi (University of Connecticut)
I have done many internships in the past with big companies such as NASDAQ but College Works offered me something different.
Making money and getting reference letters from clients this summer was great, but the network that I acquired from working with these amazing people is easily the best thing that I took out of this internship.
At College Works Painting we believe in preparing our Student Interns for life and business, and we believe the old adage that those who "Work Hardshould Play Hard" too. As such, since we know how hard you will be working, we want you to know how much fun can be had as well.
College Works Painting Interns are chosen based on a strict process involving three face-to-face interviews with various company representatives. Not all college students are capable of the responsibilities involved in working a summer with College Works Painting. To make sure we only select the best, most motivated candidates to join our program, we'll carefully consider your work experience, academic performance, involvement in high school and college activities, along with many personal factors.
Once you've been selected for our Intern Program, you can look forward to extensive training--in the classroom, and in the field with one of our district managers--to prepare you for your upcoming College Works Painting experience.
Next, we'll teach you exactly how to craft and implement a marketing program, make sales, estimate projects, work with customers, plus recruit, hire, and train employees. In short, you'll learn all aspects of running a small business.
Our carefully designed training program provides one of the best proving grounds available, where you'll be challenged to test your limits in a real managerial role. Once you're done, you'll be fully prepared to go out and achieve the personal and professional growth necessary for success in today's competitive world.
Pass the College Works Painting training program and you'll be expected to perform and produce like the true entrepreneur you are. But you won't be out there alone. You'll continue to work closely with your district manager, who will provide strong and structured mentorship, ongoing in-field training, and supervised learning.
How much money can I make? It depends entirely on how profitably you run your College Works Painting business, not the number of hours you work.
The average profit percentage on an average job is 21.5%. In addition, because College Works Painting is committed to recognizing excellence, you could also receive periodic bonuses for exceptional performance. All bonuses are awarded at the discretion of management and are cumulative. This is the real world. However, we are a fair-minded company and are not shy about recognizing great work by employees.
When your internship is over, the opportunities are just beginning!
As you might expect, College Works Painting alumni are extremely successful; and many own or run large companies. As an intern you'll have a chance to meet and learn from some of them. As one of our program graduates, you'll gain instant access to a select referral program to help you with your job search after graduation.
I have been working at College Works Painting full-time (More than 3 years)
Any industry you go into you're going to have to pay your dues and work hard to prove yourself. This program is not for everyone and they advertise it as such, you're going to have to work hard and any challenge you face you are facing it for a reason: because you need to learn to overcome it. I've been with College Works for 4 years and have had my fair of challenges but I'm so glad I did because with every challenge I learned. I also learned what I'm good at in business and what I need to work on. My advice is work smarter not harder, if you want to get better don't complain, practice this stuff on your own because those who succeed tend to attribute it to themselves and those who fail blame others. Love the culture of the company, the internship is only 6 months so enjoy the ride.
None, keep doing what you're doing.
I applied through college or university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at College Works Painting (DeKalb, IL) in September 2016.
They will come to your class and hand out slips of paper to get your contact info. Then they will call you and invite you to an informational meeting somewhere on campus. When you go, there will be several other students there but your interviewer will probably ask one/some of them to leave before they are finished which means they don't consider them a good candidate for the job. Then, if you are picked, you get to do another phone interview with the same interview. If you are picked after that, you get to do a reverse interview with an executive (higher level) member of the company. It can seem scam-ish, but from the research I've done, you can be successful and make some money and also get some good experience if you're willing to work hard and put effort and time into it.
