The community is great, and your colleagues treat you like a human being.
The administration doesn't think adjuncts are human beings. The pay is low (apparently across the board, but when you're only making $1800 per class you teach, an extra grand goes a long way.) They limit the classes you teach so you can't make full time or get benefits, and they've recently started paying adjuncts only twice a semester, which, you might realize, it is impossible to budget around.
Advice to Management
Realize that adjuncts are important members of the faculty on campus and their dedication makes the education better for the students, which is why the university exists. If you refuse to change, rethink your dedication to charity and community, because it looks like you're lying.
