"Fast and fun"
Pros
More fun writing code and building than I’ve had before (13 years in industry), I enjoy working with my teammates and with the leadership team. Enjoy the transparency as well.Cons
Same as any startup that is scaling.Advice to Management
Don’t lose focus on communication and bringing the whole team along like you do now, always.Common Room Interviews

Interview
I had two interviews with the head of Product and CTO. Overall both of them were fine and it was exciting to hear what they were building. However, my second interview with the CTO was pretty quick and short so I was surprised to get a follow up email from him from the next day saying how he enjoyed chatting. In his email he also asked me for a contact from my previous company (an open source company with a large community that I also no longer work at) that he could demo Common Room for. It was suspicious he was asking for this information at this stage in the interview process. I felt like I was taken advantage of as it's hard to say no in this situation when you're still an active candidate for this role. I reached out to a previous colleague if I could share their contact information and provided it back to Common Room. Over a week later I received an email that I was no longer moving forward with the interview process. Even though the interviews themselves were fine, the overall experience left a really bad taste in my mouth as I felt me and my time were only being used for a sales contact. I do believe Common Room is building a great community management product but if they are also using their interview candidates as sales leads that's incredibly frustrating.InterviewWhat’s the hardest product you’ve worked on?
