Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Computronix (Edmonton, AB) in Feb 2022

I succeeded on the HR interview but the technical interview did not provide much opportunity to showcase skills. Provided descriptive and explained technical nuances to each problem but they expected more concise answers. They would value from contracting candidates on a temporary basis as they lose out on very talented folks.

One of the coolest things about working for a software development company is definitely the people…from millennials to not-so-millennial, men, women, introverts, extroverts – software companies have an eclectic population and Computronix is no different. Known as Computroids, the people who work here are what make this place interesting, fun and exciting. For our #Womenintech posts, we wanted to get to know the women at Computronix better by asking how they became interested in STEM, what they do, and what advice they’d give to their 13 year-old-selves. Let’s hear from Heather McEwan, Operations Manager at Computronix
