Our family of companies (EmblemHealth, ConnectiCare, AdvantageCare Physicians, and WellSpark) promote cultural awareness and competency to foster a sense of belonging for all employees, and to improve member and patient experiences. We recently invited a cross section of employees to discuss the concept of 'privilege' and how advantages affect societal relationships. To help facilitate our discussion, we watched 'The Privilege Walk'. Special thanks to the employee panelists who bravely shared their thoughts and experiences.

At our family of companies, we believe diversity and inclusion are fundamental to creating a strong workplace and community. This year we marked Juneteenth, Friday, June 19, with a virtual event focused on Unconscious Bias: Understanding Bias Versus Inclusive Thinking. We came together online to watch a video on social bias, and complete a 'circle of trust' exercise to understand how inclusive we may or may not be personally or in the workplace; learn how automatic thoughts influence behaviors and how to recognize our blind spots.
