Mission: Our Promise
Knowing that every child's life is sacred, it is the promise of Cook Children's to improve the health of every child in our region through the prevention and treatment of illness, disease and injury.
We're moving into the future with a brand new program aimed at bringing the newest cancer drugs available to our patients. With the help of the St. Baldrick's Foundation, we are launching a Targeted Therapeutics Program, which will be led by Dr. Kelly Vallance. This program will open to the door to more clinical trials for children with cancer, meaning they can receive the latest treatments without having to travel far from home.
We have several great employment opportunities with our oncology group, too! Our openings include a Solid Tumor Program Coordinator and a Clinical Pharmacist. Learn more about our opportunities at http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQLUH!
Jamye Coffman, MD, CARE Team Medical Director at Cook Children's Health Care System, and therapy dog Kitty, presented a lecture to the Waco medical community about recognizing abuse in children.
Dr. Coffman and Kitty see patients together to alleviate anxiety and offer emotional support to children who are victims of abuse.
Our CARE team and our other amazing clinics have openings at http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQDrh.
Our promise, our culture
At Cook Children's, we've made a promise to improve the health of every child in our region. All of our employees come to work every day with that promise in mind, guiding them as they help our patients and their families get better and stay healthy. You can be an important part of making that happen.
Nearly a century ago, the first children’s hospital in Fort Worth opened with 30 beds and a promise to provide every child in the area access to medical care. From these humble beginnings Cook Children's has grown to become one of the largest and most recognized freestanding children’s health care systems in the Southwest. But one thing remains the same: the promise we made long ago, and intend to keep for generations to come.
Everyone at Cook Children's is guided by an inspiring promise, "Knowing that every child's life is sacred, it is the promise of Cook Children's to improve the health of every child in our region through the prevention and treatment of illness disease and injury.
Because our service area covers nearly half the state of Texas (or bigger than the entire state of New Mexico), our "region" often extends way beyond Fort Worth or even Texas. The Cook Children's community includes families from across the United States and even from around the world. Regardless of the distance, parents have chosen Cook Children's as their destination because of our ability to combine the art of caring with the use of leading-edge technology
Every child deserves the opportunity to live a happy, healthy life and we do our absolute best to make that a reality.
I have been working at Cook Children's Health Care System full-time (Less than a year)
Great staff, town, and environment to work.
Expansive area to live, if wanting an apartment close by.
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Cook Children's Health Care System in October 2016.
Recruiter called and set up an interview for the following week. Two managers were present for the interview. From the moment I arrived, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed.
I had heard that there isn't any negotiating...you basically take the offer or leave it. The pay was more than I'm currently making and it was the schedule I wanted; so I didn't need to bargain.
