Mission: Cornerstone chose to create a purpose statement instead of a mission statement. Our purpose statement, the reason we were formed in 1997, is to Provide a Better Place for People to Work. Our core values are Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Loyalty and Never Satisfied.
Cornerstone employees in Memphis joined the "Fast & Furriest 5K" for the Humane Society's race to save a life! Back for its 10th year, the fitness event is the only 5K where dogs are not only welcome...they are encouraged to join the fun.
Great job to our two-legged and four-legged runners!

“The planning and attention to details given to this from beginning to end was truly remarkable and greatly appreciated. There was such a warm welcome and culture of family felt during my visit that I couldn't believe this was a transportation company. This is a true testament of the people and the pursuit of excellence to every detail of the organization. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!”

In April of 1997, the 21st to be exact, Cornerstone Systems was incorporated in the state of Tennessee. We started the company with four people in an empty 5,000 sq. ft. office space and six cell phones (talk about optimistic). Our goal was to create one of the finest transportation companies in the United States.
"We have always believed that the best way to care for our customers is to care about each employee and their families. People are what make Cornerstone Systems valuable to its customers. People doing their jobs, being involved and caring about our customers' freight is what we are about. We are all in this together and what sets us apart from our competitors is our focus on the customer and our employees."
Rick indeed met his goal. Cornerstone has grown into one of the finest transportation companies in the United States. Still privately held and operated, Cornerstone Systems is a leading nationwide provider of solutions for transportation and logistics, offering intermodal, railcar & railcar consolidation, truck brokerage, container drayage, on-site logistics, warehousing & transloading services and more. Now with offices located all over the country, and service coverage that spans all of North America, Cornerstone’s proven professionals vow to offer Rock Solid Transportation Solutions. As a nationally recognized award winning company, Cornerstone Systems is the clear choice for Rock Solid Results.
Our Employees Take Personal Responsibility For the Success of Every Shipment And the Satisfaction of Every Client
Cornerstone Systems offers many options and freight solutions. We take pride in what we call customer longevity. Our top customers have stayed with us for over 10+ years and there are many reasons why. Cornerstone is able to offer the best of both worlds – Asset Experience with Non-Asset Flexibility.
So why is Cornerstone an award winning organization? How do we maintain an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau year after year? Simple. Our employees make it happen. They take a personal interest in our customers and their freight.
Let’s work together to determine which option is the most cost and service effective for your freight.

I have been working at Cornerstone Systems full-time
The culture is what stands out the most for me. Every department is managed differently which allows for upcoming leaders to learn from various leadership styles. Despite the differences, the core values remain the same and the purpose of Cornerstone is fulfilled; "to provide a better place for people to work".
In order to fit in at Cornerstone, you have to embrace the culture and continuously improve. We do not settle for mediocrity and excellence is what we stand for. It's not a good fit for everyone but for those that are willing to learn and go the extra mile, you'll look forward to walking in everyday and serving your colleagues and of course your customers.

Advice to Management
Keep pushing for excellence, nothing less.
I applied online. I interviewed at Cornerstone Systems in April 2017.
First was the phone interview - the person was grossly late calling at the scheduled time. The in-person interview breached on unethical questions and sexist generalizations. The company is primarily built on intermodal logistics and throwing darts at a moving target for their brokerage department.
