    Positive Outlook

I worked at Covenant House California full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at Covenant House California for over 4 years and my overall experience there was very positive; there were certainly some rough patches in the first half, but they were resolved. However I had a great working relationship with the staff and the department I worked in. Also made numerous positive connections and hope that the agency continues its mission and advocacy while also keeping in mind the well-being of it's dedicated staff as best as it can.

    Cons

It being a non-profit there is always going to be the issue of salary/compensation, but I don't fault the agency for that; instead they are able to pay what they are able to pay based on the overall need of putting the services towards the youth first.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Covenant House California (Hollywood, CA) in June 2014.

    Interview

Short, was given a couple scenarios. Asked how I would handle certain interactions. Was interviewed by two managers. Very informal. Was not given a tour of the facility. I did not feel that they were being very picky about who they wanted to hire. I knew I would get the job.

    Interview Questions

    • How would you respond if a resident became too comfortable and crossed a boundary? How are you with conflict? How would you handle a situation between residents who are having a disagreement?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

No negotiation. Take it or leave it.
