I have been working at Cratejoy full-time (More than 3 years)

There's a culture of helpfulness; all teams all work together to support each other. I genuinely enjoy hanging out with my coworkers.

Good perks: unlimited vacation (where you can really can take as much or more time off than I got at other jobs); lunch every day; work from home when you'd like.

The company will invest in your education and goals. They actually commit time, energy, and resources to helping you get where you want to go.

We're now profitable, which provides more stability than is normal in a start-up.

There've been some bumps from abrupt strategy adjustments in years past, though things seems stable now.

    Advice to Management

Gender diversity has improved significantly over the past year, but racial diversity has dropped. Be intentional about ensuring recruitment and culture is inclusive in all facets.

    Software Engineer Interview

    Average Interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cratejoy (Austin, TX) in March 2017.

I enjoyed meeting the engineers. However, I did not like the attitude of one of the managers where he eyed me incredulously as if I needed to explain why I was not at the scene of a crime. It was a real turnoff.

It was a stressful three hour interview. I met with three groups of two. I had thought the interview went fairly well but after getting rejected via email I think otherwise. They asked me for feedback on their interview process but did not give feedback on what I did wrong.

Favorite part was meeting two cute little dogs that an engineer brought in to the interview with him. I even passed the "sniff" test with flying colors but apparently this was not good enough to get hired.

The downtown office is kind of cramped and appears to exist just to house the employees. It is also not easy to find as the map I was given had an arrow pointing to the door adjacent to the office which has office numbers from perhaps 115 - 119 and I scrambled to find 120 which was an outside entrance from the street. Keep this in mind if you interview for them.
