I worked at Crown Ace Hardware (More than a year)
Got to build good relationships with the regular customers, learned how to hand build craftman equipment for display, and allowed me to acquire better customer service skills.
Working with some of my fellow employees, and the inconsistentency with the work schedule.
Advice to Management
Work with your employees to avoid tradiness or absence from work due to lack of communication when making the weekly schedule
I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at Crown Ace Hardware (Riverside, CA) in March 2015.
Business casual dress, the staff was very warm and open to my many questions about the hardware business. We exchanged casual banter about each others lives, and then the conversation lead into general questions about work reliability, good customer service, and the importance of teamwork. The interview process was relaxed and I was definitely glad that I had read up on hardware beforehand, as I wasn't the most experienced with hardware at all. My strength was in gardening, so I spoke of that a lot, and it seemed to help.
