I worked at Crown Ace Hardware part-time (Less than a year)
Was a good part-time job for student and you learn a lot about home improvement if that's your thing. Really nice discount on merchandise. Customer service is held to a high standard, no customer unattended! Boss may seem aggressive but he's actually a great leader and won't give you BS if you do what you're suppose to do.
Stocking shelves was really boring.
I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at Crown Ace Hardware (Riverside, CA) in March 2015.
Business casual dress, the staff was very warm and open to my many questions about the hardware business. We exchanged casual banter about each others lives, and then the conversation lead into general questions about work reliability, good customer service, and the importance of teamwork. The interview process was relaxed and I was definitely glad that I had read up on hardware beforehand, as I wasn't the most experienced with hardware at all. My strength was in gardening, so I spoke of that a lot, and it seemed to help.
