I worked at Crowne Architectural Systems full-time (More than a year)
Crowne is a small (in comparison to organizations like Bovis or Skanska), privately owned company. That means you get to interact on a regualr basis with the founder and key office staff. In my experience, that fosters a climate of quick response and positive feedback, all leading to better serving our customers. Additionally, it allowed for much personal growth, as you learned about all facets of the operation.
Because the company is smaller, the atmosphere is more like family than a traditional corporate environment. That may be difficult for some to manage (although I personally found it to be one of the best features).
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing. So many Crowne "alumni" are doing incredible things! Continue developing your personnel, and find ways to partner in their success even after they're gone if at all possible.
I applied online. I interviewed at Crowne Architectural Systems.
An advertisement appeared online, to which I responded. The interview was held in an informal setting at a restaurant, making it more relaxed. It felt natural, like a pleasant conversation between professionals.
I think we were equally saitisfied with what the other brought to the table. I was looking to work with an organization that had growth potential, and was willing to put in the work to show my value. They were looking for a self-starter who could fit in with their corporate culture and take the reins right out of the gate. Since we both got what we wanted, the "negotiations" happened in one day, and seemingly effortlessly.
