Cummins Inc. is organized into five distinct but complementary business units:
Cummins Engine Segment manufactures and markets a complete line of diesel and natural gas-powered engines for on-highway and off-highway use. Its markets include heavy-and medium-duty truck, bus, recreational vehicle (RV), light-duty automotive and a number of industrial uses including agricultural, construction, mining marine, oil and gas and military equipment. Cummins Engine Business also provides a full range of new parts and services and remanufactured parts and engines through an extensive distribution network.
Cummins engines range in size from 31 to 3,500 horsepower and from 1.4 liters to 91 liters.
Cummins Power Systems Segment is a global provider of power generation systems, components, and services in standby power, distributed power generation, as well as auxiliary power in mobile applications to meet the needs of a diversified customer base. Cummins Power Generation also provides a full range of services and solutions, including long-term operation and maintenance contracts and turnkey and temporary power solutions.
Cummins Power Generation products include diesel and alternative-fueled electrical generator sets from 2.5 to 2,700 kW, alternators from 0.6 KVA to 30,000 KVA, transfer switches from 40 amps to 3,000 amps, paralleling switchgear and generator set controls.
The ComponentsSegment consists of four businesses with key technologies for delivering integrated solutions: Cummins Filtration, Cummins Turbo Technologies, Cummins Emission Solutions and Cummins Fuel Systems.
Cummins Distribution Segment drives a comprehensive global distribution strategy and channel management. Capitalizing on synergies in parts and services, this business helps Cummins by providing outstanding support to our customers, while growing a less cyclical and less capital intensive business.
The business consists of 17 company-owned distributors and 10 joint ventures, covering 90 countries and territories through 233 locations. Through this network, trained personnel sell and distribute Cummins-branded products, related services and broader solutions such as maintenance contracts, engineering services, and customized integrated products.
Cummins Electrified Power Segment, the newest of our business segments, brings together all Cummins’ electrification resources to increase the visibility of and accountability for the company’s investments and performance in this growing marketing. It is positioned to provide fully-electric and hybrid powertrain solutions along with technology leading components and subsystems to serve all our markets as they adopt electrification. Another thing that sets Cummins apart from other companies is diversity training. All employees are required to complete Spectrum Diversity Training, an all-day session that teaches employees not only how to interact with co-workers who have different backgrounds and ethnicities, but also the Business Case for Diversity. The training uses role playing, group exercises, video and more to show employees that diverse organizations are better able to develop creative solutions to difficult business problems than companies where every employee is alike.

At the beginning of each year, you'll work with your manager to clearly define your work and development objectives (Planning stage). Throughout the year, you and your manager will have ongoing conversations to help align your work with the objectives of the company and our core values. You will also uncover skills and experiences that you'll need to accomplish your career goals and set goals for individual development. You'll work together to review your progress, and your manager will provide feedback on your work and development (Updating stage).
At the end of the year, you and your manager will again work together to evaluate your performance (Reviewing stage) and how it relates to big-picture Cummins objectives and to your own personal goals. Your manager will also speak with key stakeholders as part of your assessment in order to provide valuable feedback on your strengths and development opportunities.

Advice to Management
Create a set pay scale across the board. Lower health insurance deductibles.
I applied through college or university. The process took a week. I interviewed at Cummins in February 2019.
Met with recruiters at career fair. The same night they scheduled an interview for a couple of days after. Questions were a mix of behavioral and technical, and two business days later I received and accepted an offer.
