    Negative Outlook

I worked at D&D Restaurants full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues I worked with that were trying, like me, to make interesting things, make set up more modern and pleasurable to the customer, but were, like me, overwhelmed with work and shut down by money focused management, finally giving up and leaving.

    Cons

Company may seem fancy and successful, promises you a career progression etc.. From the inside it's chaotic and highly hierarchical. Management does things behind your back and does not want to include you in a circulation. Despite my best efforts to keep the venue organised, super long hours and commitment, change of manager caused my replacement with someone from an inner circle, reducing my role overnight. If you won't submit you're out despite you’ve done a lot and have much more experience and knowledge about the particular part of the business in question. My observation is that they don't take your expertise under the account but build a company within company of people they know, mostly Italians, that are favoured above all others. They will even cover it up nicely, avoiding you to have any contact with anybody from a higher management if you have concerns to rise.

    Advice to Management

Don’t replace someone who has even a slightly different point of view than yours (which comes from expertise gained from experience relevant to a particular part of the business) with your friends that you think will submit to the order. It will come back to you when they see what games you’re playing and leave, being ambitious not prejudiced. Treat someone with relevant experience respectfully.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at D&D Restaurants (London, England (UK)) in January 2017.

    Interview

They needed someone for the particular role instantly, I had relevant, niche experience so it was rather obvious they need me. Despite that they were firm in conditions of employment, no negotiations. Instead, they even didn't keep promises from an interview on the contract, so make sure you have absolutely everything on your contract to exactly correspond to what was established before.
